After numerous delays, the James Webb Space Telescope, NASA's newest flagship mission, is scheduled for launch on 2021’s Christmas Eve, at 7:20am EST (watch live at https://www.nasa.gov/nasalive or https://www.youtube.com/nasa).

Black holes are quite ubiquitous things to talk about when we describe the universe nowadays. Nevertheless, experimental evidence for their existence has been hard to get, to say the least, and it only happened relatively recently, and thanks to the determination and the willingness to take calculated risks in pursuing such goals. This presentation summarizes the work that went into researching and finding evidence for the closest of these elusive dark monsters, in the center of our galaxy, the Milky Way, by the scientists who were awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics in 2020.
