Welcome! I’m Heather J. Coltman – great to meet you!

I am honored to serve as the Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs at James Madison University. I’m a higher education administrator, educator and concert pianist with a passionate commitment to empowering students and faculty. My main goal here at JMU is to ensure that faculty and students are actively engaged in discovering, making and sharing knowledge. This means constantly providing opportunities for “teaching, learning, research, inquiry, creative activity and service.”
