A couple weeks ago, some of our first-year OT students volunteered for a Valley Scholars event, where they got to advocate for OT and explain it to middle and high schoolers. Thank you first years for helping to explaining OT to members of the community!

October 18th and 19th was the Virginia Occupational Therapy Association Conference! Second year students Emma Taylor, SOTA president, and Cate Foster, SOTA secretary, had the opportunity to attend and continue learning more about the OT profession and interact with other students across Virginia. Emma, along with professor Amy Russel Yun, presented and facilitated a discussion for students and SOTA chapters from different programs across the state, providing a space to connect and share ideas.

Additionally, please help us in congratulating Amy Russel Yun, who was presented with the OT Award of Merit, which is the highest honor awarded by VOTA, given to an OT practitioner who has made outstanding contributions to OT scholarship and practice. Lastly, a BIG thank you to JMU faculty/alumni who made the weekend a success, including Savannah Howe (VOTA president), Lindsey Carter (VOTA vice president), and Heidi Hull (VOTA Continuing Education chair)!
