Goblins Rule Homecoming, Roll Past Panthers 56-8 for 600th Win in Program History
Harrison’s ground game piles up 301 yards in the 14th straight win over Clarksville
HARRISON, Ark. – The Harrison Goblins celebrated Homecoming as Queen Lily Burns reigned over the festivities, and then gave the home crowd plenty to cheer about, rolling to a 56-8 victory over the Clarksville Panthers on Friday night. It was the Goblins’ 14th straight win over the Panthers since 2012, and it was a milestone one: the 600th victory in program history, a story that dates back to 1929.
Harrison needed little time to set the tone. Senior quarterback Gunnar Johnson broke loose on a 79-yard touchdown run early in the first quarter, and Xavier Frieze (2 yards) and Killian Eddings (13 yards) added scores before the period ended, putting the Goblins up 21-0.
The second quarter was more of the same. Frieze scored again from 30 yards out, Eddings raced 85 yards for the game’s longest play, and Johnson capped the half with a 21-yard touchdown run with 36 seconds left. Harrison took a 42-0 lead into the locker room.
Brayden Rhein put the game further out of reach in the third, scoring on runs of 22 and 1 yards to make it 56-0. Truett Bardwell was perfect on the night, converting all eight extra-point attempts.
The Goblins ran for 301 yards and eight touchdowns on only 22 carries, a 13.7-yard average. Eddings led the way with 97 yards and two scores on three carries. Johnson added 85 yards and two touchdowns on three attempts, and Frieze finished with 61 yards and two scores. Rhein also had two touchdowns. Johnson was just as efficient through the air, completing 9 of 10 passes for 95 yards. Dawson Smith (2 catches, 33 yards), Sky Lee (3 for 30), Cooper Campbell (2 for 19) and Jenner Thomas (1 for 13) were his targets. In all, Harrison piled up 396 yards of total offense on just 32 plays, an average of 12.4 yards per snap.
The Goblin defense was just as dominant, holding the Panthers to 109 total yards. Clarksville managed only 89 yards on 27 rushing attempts, a 3.3-yard average, and quarterback Braxton Raburn connected on just 4 of 17 passes for 20 yards. Thomas and Denver Woehl each led Harrison with six tackles, Lee added four, and the Goblins recorded 41 tackles as a team, including three for loss.
Clarksville broke the shutout with 6:28 left in the game, when Austin Burris ran 17 yards for a touchdown and Aiden Plugge added the two-point conversion on a run.
