How You Can Make a Difference in Southwest Local Schools
In response to the May 5 election, many members of our community have reached out asking how they can help support Southwest Local Schools. We are grateful for that generosity and commitment to our students, staff, and schools.

To provide an opportunity for those who would like to give, Southwest has created an option for private donations to directly support our schools.

Donations can be made through the District website (link below) by scrolling down and selecting the “Donate” button on the main page, or by delivering cash or a check to the District Office at 10800 Campbell Road, Harrison, Ohio 45030. You may also see the attached flyer and QR code.

Once again, the Southwest Local School District has received a Clean Audit Award from the Ohio Auditor of State, with no findings, comments, or management letter.

Eligible entities that receive this award meet the following criteria of a “clean” audit report:

The entity must file financial reports with the Auditor of State’s Office by the statutory due date, without extension, via the Hinkle System on the GAAP accounting basis.

The audit report does not contain any findings for recovery, material citations, material weaknesses, significant deficiencies, Uniform Guidance (Single Audit) findings, or questioned costs.
The entity’s management letter contains no comments related to:
- Ethics referrals
- Questioned costs less than the threshold per Uniform Guidance
- Lack of timely report submission
- Bank reconciliation issues
- Failure to obtain a timely Single Audit in accordance with Uniform Guidance
- Findings for recovery less than $500
- Public meetings or public records issues

The entity has no other financial or other concerns.

Wildcat Win! 🐾

When a community shows up for its schools, kids are the ones who win.

Each month, our Board of Education takes time to meet in a different building across the district, and this month Harrison Elementary was proud to host. It was a great opportunity to recognize our students, thank our board members for their continued support, and celebrate the impact of strong school-community connections.

It’s been a fun and full week at Harrison, too! Everything from our chess tournament and Lightning Squad celebrations to honoring our Wildcats of the Week “WOW students”🤩We even soaked up some sunshine with PE 🏃🏃‍♀️and lunch outside!🧺

Grateful for a community that continues to invest in our students and schools. 🐾
