I thought I was going to Abilene to teach. I didn’t realize how much this room was going to remind me why I love doing it.
Professor Joseph Tonche invited me to Zombie BJJ, and I walked into a room full of people who were genuinely hungry to learn.

That’s something I’ve come to appreciate more and more after 25 years of Jiu-Jitsu.

The best rooms aren’t necessarily the ones with the most experienced people.

They’re the ones with people who are willing to stay curious.
Thank you, Professor Tonche, and everyone at Zombie BJJ for the incredible welcome.

I came to Abilene to teach.
I left reminded why I love teaching.

What keeps you hungry to learn?

FIRST TIME EVER IN NEW JERSEY. 🚨

For the very first time, two-time IBJJF World Champion and current featherweight king, Cole Abate, is stepping onto our mats to share the exact patented techniques that took him to the absolute top of the grappling world.

This isn’t just a seminar. It goes down on October 24th at 10:30 AM, which also marks our official Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at our new home (438 Bergen Street). We are breaking in the brand-new room with world-level greatness, and the energy in this room is going to be electric.

Mat space for a champion of Cole’s caliber is strictly limited and once word gets out, these slots will not last. Do not watch this one from the sidelines wishing you were on the mat. All teams are welcome!

We came up short in the finals, but nonetheless had some great scraps. Back to the lab to polish up a few things. We are just getting started.

The Lock & Key Method. One word, one rule, zero confusion for your kid. Pick a word only you and your child know. If someone ever says “it’s an emergency, your parents sent me, come with me”, that word is the price of admission. No word, no go.

This came out of a conversation with one of my favorite people in Jiu-Jitsu Alicia Abdelhamed in the comments on my last safety post, so credit where it’s due. This page gets better because of you.

Pick your word tonight. Save this so you don’t forget.

We got the under-hook. We seized the moment. We made him tap.
gonzalez locked in a clean armlock to take the win at grappling event Saturday night. Patient through the scrambles, stuck to the game plan, & capitalized the second the arm was exposed.

This is what consistency on the mat looks like when it meets a live moment under real pressure.
