SLSD has a .25% earned income tax levy on the ballot this November 3rd. This is issue #7. If passed this levy would generate about $2.2M annually.
Levy proceeds would be used to bring back gifted programming at the Junior School, an elementary guidance counselor, and eliminate ALL SCHOOL FEES including pay-to-play fees. Passing the levy would eliminate the need for cuts and help offset losses in state foundation revenues and tax revenue losses from HB186.
A levy failure would likely result in cuts for next school year without some increases in state funding through the next biennium budget.
It is a small ask, with big returns โ in terms of programming and financial stability.
