What Makes a Great Instructor?

A great sailing instructor does more than give commands.

They explain why, demonstrate clearly, create a safe learning environment, adapt to different learning styles, and give students enough space to make decisions. Most importantly, they help students build judgment—not just memorize steps.

At Lake St. Clair Sailing School, our goal is for students to leave the boat more knowledgeable, more capable, and more confident than when they arrived.
