One year ago today we decided we had to tell Rockville Winter Guard that the season was over due to Covid-19. We had just finished the "bones" of the show and were looking forward to the planned changes, detailing, and cleaning. We were excited about where this show would go! But instead of excitement, there were tears. We asked the ladies to bring uniforms and parents to this practice for a meeting. After we told them the season was done, we asked if they wanted to perform their show for their parents, and perform they did! They had more emotion then any previous performance and gave it everything they had, putting the staff in tears! Below is the last run of Rockville Winter Guard. I miss this group!

It's been a rough week.... but tonight was the hardest. I had to tell the ladies of Rockville Winter Guard that their season was over. They have grown so much this season and they have become a close knit group. I also told them that after 30 years of teaching colorguard, I have decided to "retire". Many tears were (and still are) being shed but I know in my heart it is the right decision. This group gave me two incredible runs of the show this evening, I couldn't have asked for a better ending. Rockville Winter Guard has been a huge part of my life for the last 6 years and I am sad to see it end. Thank you to John Tuzza for giving me the chance to have an independent guard. Thank you to Becca Becher for taking this colorguard journey with me and being not only my right hand but also a great friend. Thank you Bo Weaver for joining us 4 years ago and showing me how we can create great things when we design as a team. Above all, thank you to my wife, Beth Stetler Lichtenwalner for supporting me for the last 25 years while I did this colorguard thing and she took care of things at home, I Love You!
I will continue to judge, maybe consult, and watch all my former students perform/ teach and can't wait to see what they do in the future!

Last night RWG 2020 had a great start to the season with their best run to date! So proud of this group!

1st day of staging and we are 2 minutes into the show! Couldn't ask for a better group to work with!
