It’s our last day of the APPLES unit and we have enjoyed a lot of exploring, tasting and learning! We sampled apples that were red, green and yelllow and made a chart with everyone voting on their favorite. We made some cute caramel apples in Art and we loved playing in the Apple Market. Next up? PUMPKINS! 🎃

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our dear friend and former Board President, Marie Bradshaw. For 10 years, Marie faithfully served on the Harrisburg Early Learning Center Board of Trustees, generously giving her time, leadership, and unwavering support to our center.

Marie was much more than a Board member. She was a valued part of the HELC family, a trusted friend, and someone who truly believed in the importance of the work we do. Her kindness, generosity, and commitment to our children, families, and staff made a lasting difference.

Although Marie stepped down from the Board in August, her impact on HELC will continue for years to come. We are incredibly grateful for the countless hours she gave, the challenges she helped us navigate, and the friendship and support she shared along the way.

Our hearts and prayers are with Marie's family and loved ones during this difficult time.

Thank you, Marie, for believing in HELC and for standing beside us through it all. You will forever be part of our story and will be deeply missed.

We've had an apple-solutely fun week! Our preschoolers have been busy creating apple art, making a delicious dessert, enjoying a visit from our friends on the Bookmobile, and working hard in our very own apple orchard and apple market. There’s more fun to be had this next week learning more about apples! 🍎

Recipe: Crush 1-2 graham crackers and place in the bottom of a cup. Pour one scoop of apple pie filling on top of the layer of graham cracker crust. Top with whipped cream! (The best part 😊)

Today marks 17 years with Harrisburg Early Learning Center! It’s hard to believe how quickly the years have passed. The past 17 years have brought many wonderful memories and meaningful relationships.

I’m grateful for the families who have trusted us with their children, the staff members who have been part of this journey, my Board of Trustees, our partnerships with United Way, Boone County Children’s Services Fund, EC-PBS and a community that supports the importance of early childhood education.

I’m thankful for the opportunity to continue doing work that matters so much. Here’s to the memories we’ve made, the lives we’ve touched and the bright futures still ahead! ❤️

We had the best time celebrating Chelsie and welcoming baby Walker! Our HELC family came together to shower this sweet baby with so much love, gifts, laughter, and well wishes.

From fun games and food to lots of smiles and memories, it was such a special night! And judging by all the love and gifts, baby Walker is already one very spoiled little guy!

We’re so excited to meet you, Walker, and we’re sending Chelsie and Reed all the love as they get ready for this beautiful new chapter! 💙✨

Today, we want to take a moment to celebrate and sincerely thank former Board President Marie Bradshaw for an incredible 10 years of service to the Harrisburg Early Learning Center Board of Trustees.

Ten years represents so much more than a number. It represents countless hours, meetings, conversations, thoughtful decisions, encouragement, kindness, and support. Marie has given generously of her time and talents, always with a genuine commitment to our center, our children, our families, our staff, and our mission.

Her leadership and selfless service has left a lasting mark on Harrisburg Early Learning Center and we are incredibly grateful for all she has done and continues to mean to our organization.

Thank you, Marie, for 10 years of dedication, leadership, and heart. We are so grateful for you!

We are excited to welcome Rhonda Voorheis as Board President. Rhonda previously served as Vice President and we are grateful for her continued commitment, years of service on the board and her leadership at HELC.

We’re also excited to welcome new members to our Board of Trustees and the fresh perspectives and energy they bring to our organization!
