Apprentice Spotlight: Nate Skrinak ❄️Mechanicsburg HVAC

This Apprenticeship Week, we’re proud to spotlight Nate Skrinak and the passion he’s shown in the skilled trades.

Nate got his start with Remco as a co-op student and quickly stood out for his dedication to the craft. By the time he graduated, he had already developed the skills to begin running basic calls, setting a strong foundation for his HVAC career.

A graduate of Dauphin County Tech HVAC Program , Nate knew early on that skilled trades were the right fit. The variety of job sites, systems, and problem-solving opportunities drew him in and continues to motivate him today.

✔️ Built real-world HVAC experience before graduating
✔️ Thrives on problem-solving and hands-on work

Nate’s advice for anyone starting in the skilled trades:

“Be comfortable to talk and ask questions. Especially in the HVAC industry, the smallest detail you’re told, and you remember, can save you a lot of time on future service calls. The more you talk and show an interest, the more the older technicians will want to teach you without even having to ask.”

At Remco, we’re committed to developing the next generation of skilled trades professionals. Nate’s story is a great example of how apprenticeship programs and early hands-on experience can turn into career success.

Dauphin County Technical School

Last week, Mrs. Giesler from our Math Department helped the 10th grade HVAC students with a lesson on calculating system size using square feet. This opportunity allowed our students to put their math skills to the test and understand the importance and relationship between their academic classes and their program. With the information they have learned from this lesson, these students will be sizing a mini split system for our Engineering, Drafting and Design program!
