📍 Join the Global Respectful Disruption Summit in community at the Central PA Viewing Hub on April 24, 2026 at 9:00 AM at The Disruptor Den, home of the Penn State Harrisburg Nittany Lion's Viewing Hub!

🌍 Global educators and community members are invited to this dynamic space for shared learning, meaningful dialogue, and real-time problem-solving. Participants will view the summit sessions together IRL and engage in collective reflection designed to translate insights from GRDS into local action, innovation, and collaboration.

🔓 Accessibility note: For anyone who cannot afford registration, grant applications are available to help make participation as affordable and accessible as possible.

Global Studies Foundations for K–12 Educators: Preparing for the Certificate Program
October 11th, 2025 | 9:00am - 11:00am

The Global Studies Center at the University of Pittsburgh is offering a special workshop that gives K–12 educators a meaningful way to begin the process of earning the K–12 Certificate in Global Studies.

This session is perfect for K–12 educators who want to:

• Take the first step toward earning the Center’s K–12 Certificate in Global Studies,
• Explore fresh ways to connect literature, history, current events, and culture, and
• Gain tools to help students see themselves as part of a globally interconnected world.
• The workshop will provide an engaging overview of the Intro to Global Studies course—a core requirement for the certificate—and show how teachers can “jump start” their work toward the certificate. Participants will leave with a framework for writing reflections and integrating themes from other Global Studies programs (like Global Issues in Literature) into their teaching.

Open to all educators—whether you’re pursuing the certificate or simply want to expand your knowledge of global topics and teaching strategies.

The 2025 PACIE Conference wrapped up with another insightful day of learning, networking, and sparking opportunities for continued transformative global learning for all Pennsylvanians, and we are so grateful to everyone who took part in this year’s gathering!

Thank you again to the Conference Committee and to Penn State for hosting us, to the Council of Chief State School Officers 2025 National Teacher of the Year and English educator at Mifflin County High School Ashlie Crosson for such an engaging and inspiring lunch plenary about her own evolution as a global educator, and to new PACIE President Michael Webb for closing out the conference by reaffirming the importance of our work and opportunities on the horizon. And congratulations again to PACIE annual awardees Martyn J. Miller, Jennifer Ellis Fritz, and World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh! 🎉

Happy National Teach Ag Day from the 2025 PACIE Conference at Penn State University and thank you to Global Teach Ag Network for celebrating the day with an interactive chocolate taste-tasting and think-pair-share during today’s lunch plenary!

Founded as an agricultural college, and now a world-renowned university committed to offering accessible, high-quality education at all levels and to promoting innovation and excellence through collaborative teaching and interdisciplinary research that drive economic growth, enrich society, and foster global understanding, it’s great to be on Penn State’s campus, where PACIE began 56 years ago, together with other founding institutions Temple University, University of Pennsylvania, and University of Pittsburgh.

Our learning together during the 2-day conference is just getting started, so stay tuned!
