It’s important for STEM academics & practitioners to reflect on how their work can contribute to calls for justice. The historical underpinnings of “objectivism” in these disciplines had framed the world as a rational, empirical, positivistic object. This must be interrogated because it is dehumanizing when people who are “subjects” are instead framed to be “objects”. This is an ideological move that leads to justify oppression.
