Do you want to cultivate conversations with your kids about food waste and composting? Let me help you!

This summer, I’m teaching a Dirt Detectives workshop at where kids get down and dirty with decomposition, learn how food scraps can fuel plant growth, build soilariums, and create compostable planters!

This is 1 of 4 Sustainability and STEM workshops we’re hosting - tap here to learn more: https://thoughtfullysustainable.com/stem_summer_series/

Not local to the Harrisburg, PA area? No problem! Stay tuned for how you can download the resources to host your own Dirt Detectives workshop for your sustainable scientists!

Did you know engineers build bridges specifically for animals?

In the Wildlife Bridge Engineers session of the Thoughtfully Sustainable Summer STEM Camp Series, students will explore how engineering and conservation work together to help wildlife safely cross busy roadways.

After learning about bridge structures and reading Iggy Peck, Architect, students will sketch blueprints, design, build, camouflage, and test their own wildlife bridge creations using hands-on engineering principles.

This is one of my favorite sessions because it blends:
• STEM
• Sustainability
• Creativity
• Real-world problem solving

Earth Day can feel like a big concept for kids…

But really it comes down to something simple:

Plants give us the oxygen we breathe.

This tiny experiment makes that invisible process visible - and turns it into a moment kids actually understand.

Simple. Powerful. Worth doing.

Get my FREE photosynthesis experiment printable in my bio link and try this for Earth Day!

After all the unwrapping and celebrating, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the leftover packaging and bits of holiday chaos.

Instead of seeing it as waste, why not turn it into an opportunity? With a little creativity, those scraps and materials can become the building blocks for fun STEM activities that engage the whole family and teach valuable lessons about sustainability.

Make a robot, create a parachute, craft a piñata, and more!

Fresh on the blog: 10 family-friendly STEM challenges that are sure to bring fun (and laughter) into your home!
