On Saturday SIC held a Women in Welding exploration class. This was to help bring awareness that welding is not just for fellas. Some joined us to explore a possible career and some joined us to have fun amd try something new. I think that everyone, including myself had a great time. I truely enjoy folks learning about this amazing and fun trade. A special thank you to Kayleigh Brantley and Riley Koehler for all that they did to make it a success.

A busy time for SIC Welding Technology. Today was the Soar And Explore college exploration day for local high schools. We had a few very interested future Falcons speak with us today. A special thanks to Jake, Landon, and Kaiden for helping out. These young men are always amazing and willing to put in the extra effort. If anyone knows of anyone that may be interested in entering the growing field of welding have them contact me at [email protected]. There are many local opportunities for welders and even more across the country.

Another firepit for a local charity. These students all had part in building it. They did a great job and learned a lot about welding, measurement, and attention to details in the process.

🔥 A huge thank-you to SIC’s Welding Student Organization and Welding instructors Mark Thomas and Leif Johnson for firing up the grills during today’s SIC Back-to-School Bash!

From 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., they battled the heat while grilling delicious hamburgers and hot dogs for our SIC students and staff. 🍔🌭

We are incredibly grateful for their hard work, generosity, and willingness to help make today’s celebration such a success. Thank you for keeping SIC well-fed and showing what teamwork and campus community are all about! 💙💛

SIC Welding students Landon Ohse, Walker Bishop, and Jake Haner recently put their skills to work by constructing a new hitching post for the U.S. Department of Agriculture!

Under the instruction and guidance of Leif Johnson and Mark Thomas, these students gained valuable hands-on experience while completing a project that will benefit our community partners.

Great work, Landon, Walker, and Jake! We’re proud to see SIC students using their training to make a difference. 👏⚙️

🔥 **NEW EQUIPMENT. NEW SKILLS. REAL-WORLD TRAINING.** 🔥

Things are getting even more exciting in the **SIC Welding Department!** 👀⚙️

Our welding students now have the opportunity to learn and train using a **new CNC machine**—adding another piece of modern technology to the hands-on education happening right here at Southeastern Illinois College.

💻 Design it.
⚙️ Program it.
🔥 Cut it.
🧑‍🏭 Learn the skills to take into the workforce.

For our students, this means more opportunities to gain experience using the technology and equipment they'll encounter beyond the classroom. For prospective students and our local high schools, it’s another reason to take a closer look at what **SIC Career & Technical Education** has to offer.

Because CTE isn't just about learning *about* a career.

👉 **It's about getting your hands on the equipment and learning how to DO it.**

Interested in welding? Come see what we're building at SIC—and start building your future with us. 🔥
