What's it like to train as a first responder?

Students in our FIRE 1400 course are learning how to size up emergency scenes, identify hazardous materials, and make critical decisions when every second counts. It's real-world training designed to prepare them for the challenges they'll face protecting communities across East Tennessee.

Amazing work by our dedicated instructor Lee Rayburn and these Fire Science students! 👏

We definitely put the chalk to the test on Saturday! Thank you to each and every artist, volunteer, sponsor, vendor, performer, car show participant, and guest who joined us for the Street Painting Festival this year, especially for what had to be one of the hottest events of the last two decades.

We are still in awe of the incredible works of art that cover our Oak Ridge Campus sidewalks. We wanted to share a few of them with you here. Congratulations to all the entrants who placed in their categories.

Our top award winners were...
🏆 Best in Show: Kassidi Loos ( #34)
🏆 People's Choice Award: Pipes Palette ( #57)

A full list of festival award winners is available on our website (check the comments for a link). We can't wait to see what you'll create next year! 🎨✨

Ready, set, CHALK! 🎨

The Street Painting Festival is officially underway. Artists will spend the next several hours transforming the sidewalks of our Oak Ridge Campus into a colorful canvas.

This *free* community event supports local artists and Roane State student scholarships. There is so much to experience and explore, including live music and the all-new Art and Autos Car Show. We hope you'll join us!

Students can stop by Goff 333 at the Oak Ridge Campus on Monday, Sept. 21, between 11am and 5pm ET to browse free professional attire for interviews, networking events, and more. Dress shirts, sport coats, and other items will be available while supplies last.

Thank you to John H. Daniel Custom Tailors and Gary Dalton for this generous donation, helping Roane State students put their best foot forward.
