Because Extension emphasizes helping people improve their livelihood where they are located, most Tennesseans have contact with UT Extension through their local county Extension agents found in each of the 95 counties. Extension agents are supported by area and state faculty as well as by the educational and research resources and activities of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), 7

4 land-grant universities, and 3,150 county units throughout the nation. The stated mission of the system is to help people improve their lives through an educational process that uses scientific knowledge to address issues and needs.

A big congrats to our Grill Masters who brought home some ribbons on Wednesday!

These kids have been practicing every Friday night since May, and it has paid off!

You're in luck! Roane County 4-H will be starting Livestock Judging and Skills practices on October 12th from 5-6:30ish. We meet biweekly and would love to have you! So, mark your calendars, and bring your kids ready to learn!

📣 **WE ARE HIRING — More for Roane County!** 🍀🌱

We are excited to announce that **Roane County Extension is hiring a NEW TSU Extension Agent!**

This unique position will serve in both **4-H Youth Development** and **Agriculture & Natural Resources**, helping us expand the programs, resources, and support we provide throughout Roane County.

🍀 **4-H Youth Development**
Empowering young people to learn, lead, grow, and succeed through hands-on educational opportunities.

🌱 **Agriculture & Natural Resources**
Supporting local agriculture and youth agriculture programs while also serving as our **Master Gardener Coordinator**.

**One agent. Two important programs. More impact for Roane County.**

We are excited about what this partnership between **Tennessee State University Cooperative Extension and UT Extension** will mean for our youth, agricultural community, volunteers, and families.

September class is 3 nights for $60. 4-Hers will bring a clothing item to embellish with beads, applique, or embroidery!

October class is 4 nights for $80. 4-Hers will learn to use a sewing machine to make a trick-or-treat bag in time for halloween!

Our 4-H Poultry Club members have been working hard raising their pullets, and they’ll be ready for new homes on Saturday, September 12!

If you’re looking to start your own backyard egg flock or add some great laying hens to your current flock, this is a great opportunity to support our local 4-H members while taking home quality birds!
