Today, our students had the opportunity to observe training sessions with some of our patrol dogs. 🐕‍🦺

Building a strong, confident grip and properly channeling a dog’s drives are critical components of developing an effective patrol dog. Students get to see firsthand how these foundational skills are developed and shaped through quality training.

Today our students are learning how to properly begin conditioning a dog to the remote collar.

When used correctly, this tool can give dogs more freedom while helping keep them safe and connected to their handler.

The first step is finding the dog’s baseline—the lowest level where the dog can just barely perceive the stimulation. From there, students learn how to thoughtfully build the conditioning process from the dog’s individual response.

It’s not about using more pressure. It’s about understanding the dog, timing, and proper communication that will lead to greater freedom.

Every morning at our School for Dog Trainers starts with group obedience 🐕‍🦺

It’s a great opportunity for our students to proof distractions, build neutrality around other dogs and people, and get their dogs some exercise before the training day officially begins.

Class 100 is definitely bringing the competitive spirit! 😎 We like to mix training with a little friendly competition, so we wrapped up another busy week with a bite suit soccer match. ⚽🐕 Who says dog trainers don’t know how to have fun?
