I am giving myself permission to step away. To rest and to reset.

Life and the universe have challenged me and brought so much forward for me to see and integrate in the last 6 weeks or so. I need intentional space and time away from trying to create, organize, and share in my business.

I'll be treating this break like a sabbatical: I am physically resting as well as working on projects that need my undivided attention around my house and yard.

I'm excited to enter this rest period and I'm excited to see what clarity and creativity will arrive in this space. I know that when I return I will be even more me, with clarity and purpose on how I am meant to show up and share with all of you.

I hope you stay tuned for the future of Lydia and Questions Authority Coaching. 💝

I'm putting into practice what I teach and coach.

When life throws me a stress curve ball, I follow these 3 steps:

1️⃣ Get connected to my body and to my inner wisdom/soul. This is the most important step and, when I'm feeling really stressed out/activated, the hardest step. But it's so important that I take my time here before doing anything else. This is the step where I gain clarity in the choices/paths that are in front of me.
2️⃣ Make one decision. Using the clarity I gained through connection, I can choose the best first step forward. This typically isn't the decision that resolves everything, but it clears my path for the next step. This also helps teach my nervous system a new way to respond.
3️⃣ Rinse and repeat. 😜 Just keep going back to step 1 and repeating as much as necessary. The more often you come back to step 1 the more you'll start to live in that connected state.

I'm actively putting what I teach into practice these days. Here's how I'm approaching a major life event causing serious stress in a healthy way:

1. Connect to my body & soul. This is where I gain clarity and find peace even as my mind swirls with all the IFs that pop-up.

2. Make one decision. It's not going to suddenly resolve everything, but it gets me moving. And it helps clear the fog enough that the next step becomes clear, too.

3. Go back to step 1 and repeat...in order. Get connected. THEN make a decision. Every time. This is how I'm recoding my body's default responses (which tend towards dissociation and functional freeze).

Just because I coach and teach people how to identify their patterns and shift them doesn't mean I don't need to do that for myself still.

I'm experiencing a very stressful life event right now that is sending my nervous system into overdrive. And so now I get to practice what I teach while "under fire."

Things I know will help me retain my nervous system which just wants to go into freeze?
💃 Movement... I'm taking a cue from Dory and gonna just keep swimming.
🧽 Taking care of trivial tasks like laundry and dishes when all I want to do is huddle on the couch.
🚿 Get in the shower. It feels like way too much, but when I'm done, I'm always grateful I showered even if I struggled the entire time.
📣 Continue to show up here on social media even though it feels particularly vulnerable and cringe right now.

What's something you know is always good for you but so hard to do or get started when your nervous system is freaking out?

What if our judgement of our experience and emotions is what's causing us harm? Whether we judge something to be good or bad, we automatically assess and judge an experience.

Our brains aren't programmed to find happiness and joy, they're programmed to find danger and keep you safe. So of course, if we continue to let our minds filter our experiences through that lens, we're going to find more danger and "bad" than we'll find happiness and joy.

This is where cultivating your awareness and learning how to become a neutral observer or witness of the world and your experience becomes important. You learn what your body's responses are and develop discernment and the ability to respond from a place of centered calm rather than the reactionary brain.

I'm teaching you how to start developing this awareness and discernment in my Introduction to Somatics and Emotional Processing Masterclass. Comment EXPERIENCE and I'll send you more information.
