There’s something special about young adults spending time in the community and reconnecting with simple experiences — like visiting the zoo. 🦁🌿

A day at the zoo is more than just seeing animals. It’s an opportunity to learn, explore, laugh with friends, and step away from screens and daily stress. Being out in the community helps young adults build stronger social connections, improve mental well-being, and create lasting memories through shared experiences.

Community outings encourage confidence, communication, and a sense of belonging. Whether it’s walking through exhibits, learning about wildlife conservation, or simply enjoying the outdoors together, these moments promote personal growth and positive relationships.

Experiences like these remind us how important it is to stay engaged, active, and connected with the world around us. 🐘🐒💚

Giving young adults the opportunity to attend a food show is a meaningful way to connect them with the community while helping them explore an industry they are interested in. Experiences like these allow them to step outside of their everyday routines and gain hands-on exposure to the world of food, hospitality, and business.

Attending a food show introduces young adults to new ideas, different cultures, and the many career paths within the food industry. From meeting chefs and vendors to learning about food preparation, presentation, customer service, and entrepreneurship, every interaction becomes an opportunity to learn and grow.

Being involved in community events also helps build confidence and independence. Young adults are able to practice communication skills, ask questions, network with professionals, and experience a positive learning environment centered around their interests. These experiences can inspire motivation and encourage them to think about future goals and career opportunities.

Providing opportunities like this shows the importance of supporting young adults as they discover their passions and develop real-world skills. Exposure to industries they are curious about can help them better understand the dedication, teamwork, and creativity needed to succeed.

Most importantly, attending a food show is more than just a fun experience — it is an opportunity for young adults to connect with their community, expand their knowledge, and continue growing toward a positive and successful future.

There’s something special about learning life skills out in the real world—especially when it starts in the woods and ends around the dinner table.

This week, our young adult residents had the opportunity to connect with nature and their independence by foraging for wild ramps and morel mushrooms. With guidance and teamwork, they learned how to safely identify these seasonal favorites, gaining confidence and appreciation for the environment around them.

But the experience didn’t stop there.
Back in the kitchen, the group turned their fresh finds into a delicious, hands-on cooking lesson. Together, they prepared juicy ramp burgers paired with crispy fried potatoes mixed with sautéed ramps and morels. From washing and prepping ingredients to cooking on the stovetop, each resident played a role in creating the meal.

These moments go far beyond cooking—they build independence, encourage healthy habits, and create a sense of pride. There’s nothing quite like enjoying a meal you’ve helped gather and prepare from start to finish.

Real-world skills, fresh air, and great food—this is what growth looks like.
