Cabin Mountain Living Young Adult Long Term Living Program Living areas are shared between two clients with each having a private bedroom.

Located in Canaan Valley, WV, Cabin Mountain Living was established to provide opportunities for young men and women to achieve the highest level of self-sufficiency based on their individual capabilities. The living environment is a safe and structured community setting where our clients receive support and guidance from mentors, life coaches and other staff members on a daily basis. There are separate living quarters for males and females. Residents receive Life Skills Instruction which includes Job Training, Household Management, Health and Nutrition, Social Skills. They also participate in community service and events. Each client has an individual plan and receives training and support based on his or her unique needs.

Another festival in the books for our Cabin Mountain residents! 🍂🍁

It’s festival season in West Virginia, and our residents had a great time taking in Artober Fest! They explored different vendors, participated in a variety of crafts, and even enjoyed a scenic chair lift ride while taking in the beautiful changing fall leaves. 🎨🍁🚡

It was a fun day spent out in the community, trying new things, enjoying the fall weather, and making memories together.

With plenty more festivals ahead, our residents have more adventures to check off their list! ❤️🍂

It’s festival season in West Virginia! 🍂🍁

Our residents enjoyed getting out into the local community and taking in the Leaf Peepers Festival. They spent the day visiting with different vendors, listening to live music, checking out the car show, and even watching the excitement of the famous duck race! Some students even volunteered to help collect the ducks after the race. 🦆🎶🚗

It was a fun-filled day of exploring, connecting with the community, and enjoying all the sights and sounds that make fall in West Virginia so special! Stay tuned to see what festivals our residents take in next. ❤️🍁

🥒 From Seed to Pickles! 🥒

What started as tiny cucumber seeds has turned into something delicious! 🌱➡️🥒➡️🫙

Our residents planted the cucumbers from seed, watched them grow in the garden, harvested them, and now they’re putting their hard work to good use by making homemade pickles!

It’s amazing to see the entire process from growing and harvesting to preparing and preserving their own food. Along the way, they’re building valuable life skills, gaining independence, and enjoying the rewards of their hard work. 💚

🌶️ From the Garden to the Jar! 🌶️

Today, our residents had the opportunity to learn more than just cooking—they learned how to make and can a family-passed-down pepper sauce recipe, using fresh peppers picked straight from our garden! 🌱❤️

From harvesting the peppers to preparing the ingredients, cooking the sauce, and learning the proper steps for canning, residents were able to experience the entire process from garden to pantry.

This was a special opportunity to teach practical life skills while also showing how recipes and traditions can be passed down from one generation to the next. There’s something extra special about taking something grown with your own hands and turning it into something the whole family can enjoy. 🫑🥫

And this is just the beginning… stay tuned to see what else our garden has in store over the next few days! 🌱👀

🌱🥕 From Seed to Harvest! 🥕🌱

Our residents have been working hard in the garden, and now it’s time to enjoy the fruits (and vegetables!) of their labor! 🌿✨

They started these plants from tiny seeds and have watched them grow with patience, care, and plenty of hard work. Today, they got to experience the excitement of harvesting what they helped grow from the very beginning. 🧑‍🌾💚

There’s something special about seeing all that hard work come full circle—from planting the seed to bringing the harvest in! 🌱➡️🥕

And this is just the beginning… stay tuned over the next couple of days to see what they’ll be doing with their harvest! 👀🍴

🎨👕 A Little Creativity, A Lot of Fun! 👕🎨

Last week was all about getting creative and trying something new! Our young adults had a blast learning how to tie-dye their own shirts. From choosing their colors and patterns to folding, twisting, and creating their designs, everyone got to put their own personal touch into their project. 🌈

Activities like this are a great way to practice following directions, building independence, making choices, and, most importantly, having fun together!

We can’t wait to see the finished shirts and all the unique designs! 💜💙💚💛🩷

🌊🔥 A Day Full of Memories, Laughter & Gratitude! 🔥🌊

What better way to spend a summer day than out on the river, enjoying the sunshine, laughter, and good company? Our young adults had a wonderful day making memories together, enjoying time on the water, and simply being present in the moment.

As the day came to an end, everyone gathered around the campfire to roast marshmallows, share stories, laugh together, and reflect on the things they are grateful for. ❤️🔥 Taking time to share moments of gratitude with one another made the evening even more meaningful.

These are the moments that make a difference—trying new things, building friendships, enjoying the outdoors, practicing gratitude, and creating memories that will last long after the fire goes out. 🏕️✨

We are so proud of our young adults for getting out, experiencing new adventures, and sharing these special moments with one another! 🌊🔥🍫
