RGV FOCUS RGV FOCUS is a collective impact initiative created in collaboration with Educate Texas.

RGV FOCUS was launched in 2012 to transform college readiness, access, and success across the four-county region. A cross-sector team of district superintendents, higher education presidents, community-based organizations, and workforce boards meet regularly to strengthen, better connect, and align community resources to the educational pipeline.

Today's RGV FOCUS Leadership Team meeting was a reminder that the Rio Grande Valley is much more connected than our city limits, district boundaries, county lines, or organizational charts might suggest. The Valley already functions as a regional ecosystem, with so many of our lives built out across the region because of work, education, recreation, or family ties. Our challenge is building opportunity and changing systems through that same regional lens.

Thank you to everyone who joined us today, shared insights, asked questions, and contributed to such an engaging meeting. Special appreciation to our student guests and panelists from Weslaco Independent School District and South Texas College for sharing their experiences, to our presenters from the Educate Texas Policy and Advocacy Team, Teach For America Rio Grande Valley, and Region One Education Service Center for helping us connect policy, partnerships, and practice, and to Dr. Salazar for his leadership as Chair of the RGV FOCUS Leadership Team.

The energy in the room was a reflection of what is possible when leaders from across the region come together around a shared vision: Building Opportunity. Together.

Last week, we convened ESC 1, nonprofit, and school district CCMR and CTE leaders for the first RGV CCMR PLC of 26-27. As we begin our 4th year convening this network, RGV FOCUS is excited about the progress the region has made in CCMR outcomes, and we will continue to help expand opportunities for students across our systems.

There’s something powerful about working alongside people who genuinely want what’s best for students. Today’s CCMR PLC was a reminder that strong outcomes are built through shared learning, honest conversation, and a collective focus on student futures.

A big thank you to Region One Education Service Center for presenting today and bringing their TSI expertise to the group.

✨RGV SUCCESS Action Network Convening✨

This week, cross sector partners from across the RGV came together at South Texas College Mid-Valley to strengthen how we support student persistence from high school through college.

Through shared reflections and regional collaboration, participants explored what’s working to keep students engaged and how we can better align supports across systems. Grateful for the collective commitment, honest conversations, and momentum coming out of this space.
