I’m honored to have the opportunity to share a few thoughts with my fellow school librarians in School Library Journal Guest Editorial as we begin a new school year.

There’s something special about this time of year... the fresh start and the opportunity we have to make a difference for our students and school communities.

Thank you, School Library Journal, for giving me the space to reflect on “The Promise of a New School Year” and to speak to the colleagues who inspire me every day.

We began taking ID pictures today, which I love because it’s my first opportunity to meet so many of our new students! Seeing everyone’s smiles makes my heart so happy. To top it all off, our superintendent stopped by to share the exciting news about our “A” rating! 🎉 I’d like to think I had a little part in our success story, alongside our spectacular teachers and amazing admin team. What a great third day of the school year!
