Today we learned how to apply Oraqix and subgingival irrigation! 🦷💉

Oraqix
•A gel used for local anesthesia that is administered topically at and below the gum line
•Used to stop or relieve pain during scaling, probing and root planing
•It is safe due to the blunted tip and effective

Subgingival Irrigation
•Antimicrobial treatment applied under the gum line to eliminate bacteria
•Flushes out harmful bacteria and other toxins trapped underneath the gum line
•Chlorhexidine Gluconate is the subgingival irrigant most used

Caring for a patient with a physical impairment at the dental office is to be encountered in the real world. We had the opportunity to work with EMS and perform a physically impaired role play! This gave us awareness in the protocols to follow when there’s a medical emergency. 🚑🩺
