One classroom. So many ways to learn. ❤️

A preschool classroom doesn’t have to look like everyone doing the same activity at the same time.

One child may be creating, another may be exploring, and another may simply be watching and taking it all in. Each child is learning at their own pace, following their interests, and building skills through meaningful experiences.

That’s what I love about a child-centered environment! There is room for curiosity, independence, creativity, and connection. 🌱

Everyday moments like these are where so much learning happens.

🌿 A Healthy Community Starts With Us 🌿

As we move into cold and flu season, this is a gentle reminder of our illness policy. 💚

If your child has a fever of 100.4°F or higher, persistent cough, significant congestion, vomiting/diarrhea, eye discharge or redness, unusual fatigue, or symptoms of a contagious illness, please keep them home to rest and recover.

Children may return once they have been fever-free for at least 24 hours without fever-reducing medication and are well enough to comfortably participate in our day.

In our Reggio Emilia-inspired environment, children learn through relationships, exploration, and hands-on experiences. Keeping sick children home helps us protect that learning environment for every child, family, and teacher. 🌱

Thank you for helping us care for our school community with kindness and consideration. ❤️

Sometimes learning looks like play. 💛

When children are given open-ended opportunities to explore, they naturally become problem-solvers.

A simple set of locks and keys become an invitation to match, manipulate, experiment, and figure things out. Each attempt builds fine-motor coordination, hand-eye coordination, concentration, and persistence.

And perhaps most importantly, children learn that “I can keep trying until I figure it out.” ✨

That’s meaningful learning and it doesn’t always need a worksheet.

Kindergarten readiness is about so much more than knowing your ABCs. 💛

It’s learning to listen, follow directions, focus on a task, build vocabulary, solve problems, and confidently use what you know.

Today, we’re building those skills through play with a simple body-parts matching game. Children are practicing language, memory, visual discrimination, fine-motor skills, and attention all while having fun!

The best part? They don’t have to know they’re “getting ready for kindergarten.” They just know they’re playing and learning. ✨

🦷 Learning Can Be Hands-On AND Meaningful!

Sometimes learning looks like playdough, colorful manipulatives, and a little imagination. 💙

This week, we explored dental health through hands-on play while practicing vocabulary like toothbrush, floss, and cup. Children were strengthening their fine-motor skills, building language, and making connections to everyday life all while having fun!

This is what we love about preschool: children learn best when they can touch it, move it, talk about it, and make it their own. ✨

Big feelings are part of growing. 💛

At Dean Family Child Care Home & Preschool, we don’t expect children to simply stop having big feelings. We help them learn what those feelings are telling them and give them the tools to work through them.

Through everyday moments, we practice identifying emotions, communicating our needs, taking a break, calming our bodies, and learning that it’s okay to ask for help.

Social-emotional development isn’t something we teach only during a lesson. It happens all day long!

Because before children can be ready for kindergarten, they need to feel safe, understood, and confident in their ability to navigate the big feelings that come with being little. 🌱

Learning grows when we give children the opportunity to get their hands dirty. 🌱

Our outdoor space is another classroom and sometimes the best lessons happen right in the garden.

We’re slowing down to notice what’s growing, explore where our food comes from, and care for the plants around us. Children are building science skills through observation, developing fine-motor skills as they explore, and learning that they can be active participants in caring for their environment.

These everyday moments may look simple, but they are full of meaningful learning. 💚

This is the kind of learning we love at Dean Family Child Care Home & Preschool! Hands-on, child-centered, and connected to the world around us.

🏡 The Environment Is Part of the Teacher

A thoughtfully prepared classroom does more than look inviting. It gives children opportunities to explore, make choices, build independence, and learn through play. 🌱

Our materials are intentionally arranged so children can access them, experiment with them, and create their own ideas.

Today, these friends are using our tubes to build, problem-solve, practice fine-motor skills, and work alongside one another.

This is what we mean when we say the environment is part of the teacher. 💚

🎨 Kindergarten Readiness Looks Like This!

Today, our artists are creating self-portraits! 🖍️

While it may look like “just art,” experiences like this are building so many skills children will use in kindergarten and beyond.

As children look closely at themselves and decide how to represent what they see, they’re practicing observation, fine-motor control, spatial awareness, problem-solving, vocabulary, and self-expression.

They’re also learning to make independent choices, stick with a project, and feel proud of their own work. ❤️

Kindergarten readiness is so much more than knowing letters and numbers. It’s helping children become confident, capable, curious learners.

And that’s what preschool is all about. 🌱

A classroom tells a story before a child even picks up a toy. 💚

Every area of our classroom is intentionally designed to invite children to explore, create, problem-solve, build independence, and follow their interests.

From our writing and literacy areas to open-ended materials, dramatic play, science, math, and our cozy book spaces, children have access to materials that encourage hands-on learning throughout the day.

I believe the environment is part of the teacher. ✨

My goal isn’t simply to fill a room with toys — it’s to create a space where children feel comfortable, capable, curious, and ready to learn.
