On Wednesday, February 4th, 2026, the Harlem Healthy Hearts team under The Mount Sinai Hospital, Fuster Heart, partnered with the Tau Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, to host the annual “Pink Goes Red” Heart Health event. This was led by Cardiologist and Director of the Heart Center for Cardiovascular Disparities, Dr. Icilma Fergus Rowe. Over 100 African American women came out to practice heart health activities like line dancing, learning CPR training, and discussing important heart health facts. American Heart Association representative Zeyna Flutie, NYC Community Impact Director for the AHA, provided an important presentation on CPR training and provided related CPR and heart health handouts! This event would not have been made possible without the generous help and support of the Mount Sinai Fuster Heart Hospital!

During the holidays, HHH does not only promote healthy living, but we also emphasize giving back to the vibrant Central Harlem community. Thanks to the generous donations from Fairway, the Jack & Jill Foundation and Nancy Thomas and Family sixty-five attendees took home a turkey along with vegetables. In addition, 8 attendees received gift bags with groceries and 10 took home a gift certificate that can be used at any green market throughout NYC. Central Harlem has always been our focus and our team is dedicated to creating a strong culture of health. Hypertension, Type II Diabetes and Cardiovascular disease are prevalent within our community. For the past 6 years we have been working towards making our community much healthier. Please do join us and support our efforts by donating to the Harlem Healthy Hearts program.
