On September 24, leaders from the energy industry, the military community, workforce development, employers, national credentialing organizations, public leadership, and Central Texas came together at TCCT with one shared purpose: 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘃𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗧𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵-𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆-𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲.

The day included a visit from the 𝗔𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗲, a tour of our new Utility-Scale Energy Training Facility, discussions about solar and battery energy storage certification, and assessor training for members of our technical team.

We then held our 𝗩𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀-𝘁𝗼-𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻-𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲, bringing employers, military transition leaders, workforce and community partners, veterans, graduates, students, and public leaders into the same room.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲𝘀: preparing people to work safely, ensuring training matches employer needs, creating clearer pathways for transitioning service members, addressing barriers to training and employment, and developing standards that employers can trust.

𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗲𝘅𝗮𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻’𝘀 𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀. 𝗧𝗲𝘅𝗮𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁. We have an extraordinary opportunity to connect those two strengths and help more people move from service and training into meaningful, well-paying technical careers.

Exciting things are happening at the Training Center of Central Texas!

Our newest Sungrow equipment has arrived, including two Power Conversion System units and a PCS skid with a medium-voltage transformer. This equipment will join our PowerTitan 1 as we expand into hands-on, utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System training.

TCCT began by building advanced training around the Sungrow SG3600UD. We then expanded to the SG4400UD. Now, with PowerTitan, PCS, and transformer equipment arriving—and more equipment still to come—we are taking another major step forward.

We do not want our students’ first day on a solar or battery-storage jobsite to be the first time they see the equipment.

That is why TCCT is making a significant investment in real equipment, realistic training environments, and industry partnerships. Our students and veterans deserve the opportunity to learn the systems, tools, safety practices, and troubleshooting processes before they arrive in the field.

Next week, TCCT will host the American Clean Power Association, the Clean Power Institute, Sungrow, Leeward Renewable Energy, other industry partners, Fort Cavazos military-transition leadership, veteran organizations, and community leaders.

On September 24, we will also hold a Veterans-to-Clean-Energy Roundtable focused on creating stronger pathways from military service into training, nationally recognized credentials, and high-paying careers in utility-scale solar and battery energy storage.

TCCT team members will participate in ACP assessor training as we work toward assessing technicians for nationally recognized Solar Tech 1 and BESS Tech 1 certifications.

This is about more than equipment. It is about:

✅ Preparing veterans for their next mission
✅ Giving students hands-on experience before they enter the field
✅ Connecting graduates directly with employers
✅ Supporting high-paying careers in solar and battery storage
✅ Building a highly trained clean-energy workforce right here in Central Texas

In October, we will celebrate the grand opening of our new Utility-Scale Energy Training Facility in Harker Heights.

We are proud of the progress, proud of our partnerships, and especially proud of the opportunities this investment will create for our students and veterans.

The future of energy training is being built right here in Central Texas—and we are just getting started.

At the Training Center of Central Texas, we believe career training should lead to 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗷𝗼𝗯 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀.

Today, another major renewable energy employer is on our campus conducting 𝗶𝗻-𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄𝘀 with our Solar Maintenance Technician and Construction Electrician students.

And this is the 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝗷𝗼𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆 to come directly to TCCT to interview our students in just two weeks. These companies are among the largest renewable energy employers in the world.

Last week alone, one of those employers extended 𝗳𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗷𝗼𝗯 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝘀 to TCCT students—and they’re already planning to return for more candidates.

𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄𝘀. 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗷𝗼𝗯 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀. 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀.
