🍎 The Summer Meal Kit 𝗽𝗶𝗰𝗸-𝘂𝗽 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟭𝟴, 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝟭𝟮-𝟯 𝗽.𝗺. 𝗮𝘁 𝗛𝗮𝘇𝗲𝗻 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗶𝗻 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘄𝗶𝗰𝗸. Each box will require immediate refrigeration and will contain seven days of food and milk (breakfast and lunch) for the number of children ages 18 and under in the household.

To reserve the food in advance, submit a pre-order form by the deadline of Monday, June 8, 2026.

𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲: There is 𝗻𝗼 meal kit pickup on June 25. We will resume our 7-Day Summer Meal Kit pickups on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Hazen Union School, continuing on Thursdays ONLY through August 6, 2026. Hazen is the ONLY OSSU meal site this summer and summer meal kits will be available for pre-order.

🇵🇦 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗮! Seven Hazen Union high school students, along with trip chaperones, Kay Freedy and Evan Chartier, are embarking on a service-learning trip to Panama today through Squads Abroad and its parent organization, Global Brigades. The team will spend their mornings partnering with a primary school in rural Panama to support health and educational initiatives the local community has identified. Outside of direct service time, Hazen students will also explore local sights and culture through workshops and excursions, using and improving language and cultural skills. Safe travels to our Hazen team as they begin this meaningful adventure!

📚🎉OSSU-Wide Celebration Honors Young Readers!

On May 14, 𝗢𝗿𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝘄𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟯𝟱 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝟰𝘁𝗵-𝟴𝘁𝗵 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗨 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁 𝗚𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗗𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲! Students from Hardwick, Wolcott, and Woodbury Elementary Schools, Craftsbury Schools, and Hazen Union School who read at least five Golden Dome titles gathered for pizza provided by the Craftsbury Genny, homemade cookies, (thanks, Jon Greenia!), an emoji-based puzzle based on Golden Dome book themes, and a trivia competition. Kudos to our amazing OSSU librarians who coordinated and led this event!

The Vermont Golden Dome is a middle-grades children’s choice book award. Each year, a committee of librarians and teachers selects a list of 25 outstanding children’s books as nominees. Students in grades 4-8 who read at least five books from the list are eligible to vote for their favorite. The book receiving the most votes state-wide wins the Golden Dome Award for the year. 🎸🎶Join Hazen and OSSU tonight, May 28, at 7 p.m. at the Highland Center for the Arts in Greensboro for OSSU Art in Bloom! The evening will include performances by Hazen’s select chorus, percussion trio, and rock band, as well as Craftsbury’s middle school chorus (grades 6-8) and orchestra. Audience members will also enjoy solo vocal and instrumental performances by Hazen seniors. You do not want to miss this!

Guests are encouraged to arrive early, anytime between 6:30 and 7 p.m., to explore Cardtopia before the concert begins. Guided by OSSU’s amazingly talented art teachers, students transformed ordinary cardboard into an imaginative world filled with gargoyle dragons, oversized household objects, magical creatures, and fantastical structures.

🎉Today, we’re celebrating Hazen Union senior Captolia Santamore, who will study art/photography and social justice/youth advocacy at Antioch College in Yellow Springs, OH after graduation. When asked about her high school accomplishments, Captolia said she is most proud of “getting a grant to help the HUGS club put on a q***r youth summit and being a big part of making it happen.” Congratulations, Captolia, and best wishes as you step into the next chapter of your life!
