Meet Barnabas. Barnabas is our class pet and will spend each weekend visiting a different friend’s home and joining in on their family adventures! We chose his name from Barnabas in the Bible, who was known as an encourager. He was someone who lifted others up, showed kindness and helped others grow in their faith. We loved the idea of our little traveling goose carrying that same message wherever he goes. 🪿💙

Each week, Barnabas will return to school with a few new stories to share from his weekend away. So if you happen to see our Barnabas [aka - Barney] out in the community, make sure to say hello, give him a little wave, or snap a pic for his journal of his adventures! We can’t wait to see all the places he visits this year.

May Barnabas remind us that even the smallest acts of kindness and encouragement can make a big difference. 💛

Today St. Norbert dedicated our new garden and flagpole. Thank you so much to Hagen lawn care and all those who worked so hard on this beautiful space for our school.

Dear God,
We come together today to set apart this flagpole and this garden. Thank you for the soil beneath our feet, the sun above, and the breath of life that connects us all.
• Bless the Garden: Bless the green growing things rooted in this earth. May this garden be a quiet place of peace, healing, and beauty. As flowers and plants grow here, let our own hearts grow in kindness, patience, and care for one another and for the world around us.
• Bless the Flag: As the flag rises above this place, we give thanks for our freedoms and for the shared responsibilities we hold as a community. Let the flag remind us of courage, unity, and the ongoing work of justice and peace.
• Bless the Space: May everyone who pauses by this flagpole and walks this garden find a moment of rest, strength, and hope. Watch over this space through every season, and let it stand as a lasting symbol of our commitment to love and serve our community like the example set by our sweet Caroline.

⛪️🦋What a beautiful first day at SNS! 🦋🙏🏻

🚌📚The morning started with so many excited faces walking through SNS’s front doors. 🏫
⛪️🙏🏻We celebrated the 1st Mass of our school year followed by blessing of the backpacks by Father Roberts. 🎒
🦋The students then released butterflies in memory of our sweet Caroline. 💜

A special thanks to everyone who celebrated Mass with us, helped with the butterfly release, and stopped in this morning to wish us well! Please keep St Norbert School, our students and staff in your prayers as we begin another year of learning!

📓🍎 Our BACK TO SCHOOL OPEN HOUSE for St Norbert School will be Tuesday, 8/17 from 6-7pm.

Students are encouraged to bring school supplies with them. We are looking forward to seeing everyone in the coming weeks! 💛💙

🍗 THE DUMPLINGS ARE CALLING! 🍗
School bells are ringing, leaves will soon be falling, and you know what that means… the St. Francis of Assisi Parish Fall Dinner in Hardin, IL, is right around the corner!

Yes, you read that right! The SFA Parish Fall Dinner will be held Sunday, October 18, at the St. Norbert School Gym in Hardin, Illinois.

If you’ve been dreaming about those homemade dumplings and dressing all year, you’re in luck! A full, homemade meal prepared by some of the best cooks in Calhoun County will be served. 🤎

Come enjoy a sit-down, all-you-can-eat meal with your family and friends, or grab a carryout to enjoy at home. And while you’re at it, don’t forget to grab an extra meal for your neighbors!

🍽️ The full meal includes:
● Crispy fried chicken
● Tender roast beef
● Homemade dumplings
● Dressing
● Mashed potatoes & gravy
● Slaw
● Green beans
● Dessert

And, of course, don’t forget to swing by our Sweet Shop for some of the best homemade desserts around! 🍰
