We had the privilege to receive a visit from retired NYPD officers who were on the job as First Responders on 9/11. They expressed the affects on our country during that time and brought artifacts to show our students. One of them is signed memorabilia from former Yankees baseball players. Special thanks for Officers Ginn and Ruiz from the Hardeeville Police Department for collaborating with RLOA

RTI (Response to Intervention) is a way schools make sure students get the help they need as soon as they need it. There are 4 tiers.

Tier I: ALL students receive in the classroom with their teacher.

Tier 1+: Students struggling on one or two specific skills receive with a paraprofessional. It is 4 days a week for 20-30 minutes. Groups are 5-6 kids. They are taught and monitored for 6 weeks on that one or two skills only.

Tier II: Struggling students receive extra small group support in addition to what the teacher provides. It is outside of the classroom with an interventionist 4 days a week for 45 minutes.
Groups are 4-6 kids. They are taught and monitored for 9-11 weeks.

Tier III: When students continue to have difficulty after being given Tier II, they meet with the interventionist 4 days a week for 60 minutes with additional support on Fridays. Groups are 1-3 kids. They are taught and monitored for 9-11 weeks.

Throughout the process, their facilitator regularly checks progress to see if the support is working. The goal is to identify learning needs early and provide help before they fall behind more. RTI is not a special education program. It is a way to provide targeted support and monitor progress so every student has the opportunity to succeed.

A student's RTI tier is not permanent. As students grow and their needs change, they may move to a higher tier for more support or return to a lower tier where they are making strong progress. The goal is to provide the right amount of help for the right time.

Meet the team!
