This week for Black History Month, we learned about Dorothy J. Vaughan. She was one of the first African American women supervisors at NASA and played an important role in supporting and advancing the careers of Katherine Johnson and Mary Jackson.

When computers began to replace human calculations, Dorothy Vaughan taught herself computer programming and became skilled in early programming languages like FORTRAN.

To celebrate her contributions to science and space exploration, our students created a fun craft by coloring rocket ships and moons and adding “USA” to them.❤️❤️❤️

At Chosen One Christian Childcare Center, we honor Black History by celebrating faith, courage, culture, and the many contributions that have shaped our world. We remind our children that they are chosen, valued, and created with purpose. We also encourage families to teach children about their history, heritage, and the strong leaders who came before them. Together, we learn from the past, uplift one another, and inspire a future filled with love, respect, and unity. ❤️🖤💛💚

This week at daycare was full of learning and fun! We went on a little adventure around the daycare looking for items that start with the letter D. The children found dog, doughnuts, donkey, dolphin, desk, and dinosaur. Using some of these, we created an uppercase D out of doughnuts and a lowercase d out of dinosaurs! 🐶🍩🦕

Along with letters, we also reviewed colors, shapes, and numbers to strengthen early learning skills.

📚 We also enjoyed a Hungry Caterpillar Reading Activity! Students colored their favorite foods from The Very Hungry Caterpillar or created their own choices. Then, they designed their own colorful caterpillars using patterns. 🐛✨

As temperatures continue to rise, it’s important to make sure our kids are staying safe in the heat. Please remind your child to drink plenty of water throughout the day, whether they’re playing outside, attending camp, or just enjoying summer fun. Keeping their bodies hydrated helps prevent heat exhaustion and keeps them feeling their best.

Our little learners worked on an exciting Dot-2-Dot activity to strengthen their fine motor skills and practice following directions. Each child had the chance to lace through shapes, carefully connecting the dots with focus and creativity. It was such a joy to watch their concentration, independence, and pride as they completed their colorful creations.
