And just like that, another summer on Little Traverse Bay is in the books!! From early mornings on the water and afternoon races to chalk talks, bay rips, Point Days, and plenty of memories in between, we couldn’t have asked for a better 9 weeks!!

A huge thank you to our incredible coaching staff, Executive Director David Ge**er, Board of Directors, volunteers, and everyone who helped make Summer 2026 so special. Most importantly, we want to celebrate all of our sailors — from first-year sailors to returning sailors, we are so proud of everything you accomplished this summer!!

From all of us at LTS, thank you for an amazing summer!! We’ll miss you, and we can’t wait to see you back on the water next summer!!😊🩵

In case you missed it — this past weekend Macy Savage, Anthony Sullivan, Keeler Brainerd, and Matthew Rogier represented LTS and LTYC at the 2026 Chubb US Triplehanded Championship for the Sears Cup at Noroton Yacht Club in Darien, CT! They qualified for this event back in June at the Area K Qualifier hosted by LTS/LTYC on Little Traverse Bay.

They had a great weekend racing against a very competitive fleet of 16 boats and gained valuable experience competing at the national level. We are so proud of the hard work, dedication, and teamwork they brought to the event!

Congratulations Macy, Anthony, Keeler, and Matthew on an amazing weekend of sailing!!🤗

On Friday, we held the annual LTS Awards Picnic at Kiwanis Park🤩

We had the opportunity to recognize coaches, sailors, and community members for their hard work and contributions to the LTS and Harbor Springs sailing communities. Descriptions of the awards and their recipients are listed below:

The Diane Chapin Nilstoft Scholarship is a yearly award granted to a promising young woman sailor whose leadership and contributions to the sport exemplify the spirit, generosity, and passion for sailing of the award’s namesake: Diane Chapin Nilstoft. This year, we are excited to award the scholarship to Catherine Grin!!

The Meade Maxwell Award, created in honor of beloved LTS friend Meade, recognizes an LTS staff member who positively impacts our sailing school program through their dedication, quiet competence, engaging presence, and positive example to their peers. Congratulations to John Goff on receiving this award!!

The Beth Kost Unsung Hero Award, given to the person who, in the background, voluntarily helps LTS live up to the mission of “Building Lifelong Sailors.” This person volunteers not for accolades but for strengthening the LTS Community and those that want to be a part of it. We are thrilled to recognize Erin Grin as the inaugural recipient of the Beth Kost Unsung Hero Award!!

The following awards were given to sailors in the LTS program:

Best Leap Forward — Jojo Lindsey, Ellie Lamerato, Caelen Wren
Corinthian Spirit —Fitz Mason, Liam Miller, Noah Doornbos
Leadership — PK Offield, Grace Berryman, Chase Gratz

Congratulations everyone!! We are so lucky to have you all as part of the Little Traverse Sailors community!!💙

Ten years ago, the LTS community lost a beloved sailor, supporter, and friend. Teddy wasn’t the most serious racer, but he loved to sail in Harbor Springs with his friends and family. The Teddy Brown Memorial Regatta celebrates sailing, racing, and being together in beautiful Harbor Springs. We were thrilled to have 40 sailors out on the water today in our final youth regatta of the summer!!

Congratulations to all who raced and our first place winners: Noah, Jacob, Morgan, Lola, Tobyn, and Hudson!! To read more about this event, and our other youth regattas, visit our website under “racing”❤️⛵️

A huge thank you to Martin Grin and Mara Lowry for a wonderful LTS History Talk tonight!

It was wonderful to see our community come together to support Little Traverse Sailors. We learned so much about the history of the program, how it has grown, and how it has evolved over the years. None of it would have been possible without the incredible support and dedication of our community.

If you’d like to help us continue to build lifelong sailors, join us at Evening Under the Stars tomorrow night or consider making a donation😊

The links to donate and purchase tickets for Evening Under the Stars are in our bio!!

Tonight our youth regatta series continued on with the Tomahawk Regatta!!

Named after the Lowry family’s legendary boat, this year marked the 41th anniversary of the sinking of the Tomahawk in the 1985 Bayview Mackinac Race. A special thank you to the Lowry family for sharing their story with sailors, reminding them that safety and teamwork are crucial to the sport of sailing.

Congratulations to all who raced and our first place winners: Graham, Noah, Sullivan, Blaise, Bodhi, and Brock!! To read more about this event, and our other youth regattas, visit our website under “racing”🏆
