RAM Room Community Walks ๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒŠ

The Ram Room enjoys taking daily community walks, including walks to the Harbor Springs Boardwalk, where we can overlook and explore our beautiful town. These walks give children the opportunity to experience their community beyond the classroom while practicing safe walking skills, building confidence, and observing the world around them.

Community walks also encourage movement, curiosity, conversation, and connection with nature, while helping children develop an appreciation for the place they live and learn. ๐Ÿ’›

๐Ÿš”๐Ÿ’™ A Special Visit for Camp Harbor & School Age! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿš”

Today our Camp Harbor and School Age friends had a special visit from Officer Swiss! We got to learn more about what police officers do each day and how they help keep our community safe.

Our friends got an up-close look at some of the equipment officers use, explored the police vehicle, and even had the chance to hold a police shield! ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ๐Ÿš“ The kids had lots of questions and loved getting such a hands-on experience.

We also learned about seatbelt safety and why buckling up every single time we get into a vehicle is so important! โค๏ธ

A huge thank you to Officer Swiss for spending time with Camp Harbor and School Age and teaching us about safety and the important work police officers do in our community! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ‘ฎ

โ„๏ธ Ice Painting Fun! ๐ŸŽจ

Last week, our School Age friends explored ice painting! Using colorful frozen paint cubes, they experimented with how the ice glided across the paper, creating beautiful designs as it melted.

This hands-on activity encouraged: ๐Ÿ–Œ๏ธ Creativity and self-expression
โ„๏ธ Sensory exploration
โœ‹ Fine motor development
๐Ÿค Cooperation and sharing materials
๐Ÿ”ฌ Early science as we observed the ice melting and colors mixing

It was a cool way to combine art, science, and creativity while making unique masterpieces. We had so much fun watching everyone's imagination come to life! ๐Ÿ’™๐ŸŒˆ

๐ŸŒฟ Draw What You See: Nature Walk ๐ŸŒฟ

Today our School Age friends headed out on a nature walk with journals in hand! As they explored, they slowed down to carefully observe the world around them and drew what they saw from towering trees and colorful leaves to flowers, insects, sticks, and other treasures they discovered along the way.

This activity encouraged creativity, observation, and an appreciation for the beauty of nature while helping children practice focusing on the small details all around them. Every drawing was unique because each child noticed something different, making our outdoor classroom a wonderful place to learn and explore together. ๐ŸŒณโœ๏ธ๐Ÿƒ

Experiences like these are so valuable for our 2- to 4-year-olds! Field trips provide hands-on learning opportunities that help children make connections between what they learn in the classroom and the world around them. Today, the children explored nature, listened to stories, created a turtle craft, fed the fish, and practiced being safe and respectful in a new environment.
The bus ride was also an important part of the experience, helping the children practice following directions, building independence, and enjoying a shared adventure with their classmates. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of these meaningful learning experiences Oden State Fish Hatchery!
