Schedule of Activities for the First Day of School – Friday, August 14
Good Afternoon Parents/Caregivers, Students, and Community Members,
Tomorrow, Friday, August 14, is our first day of school!
Our staff has been working hard to prepare the campus and classrooms, and we are excited to welcome everyone back. We hope you will be pleased with the many positive changes to staffing and the coursework available to our students this year.
We have a full day of important activities planned for tomorrow, so please make sure your student arrives on time for school.
First period will begin with an assembly. Our new Principal, Melissa Rhodes, will welcome students and outline expectations for the school year. She will cover a wide range of topics, including the introduction of new staff, attendance, classroom/hallway/campus behavior expectations, dress code, a new approach to Chromebook use, and the new “no cell phones in the classrooms” policy, in accordance with state law.
Immediately following the assembly, students will move to their first-period classes, where they will work with their teachers to select their electives.
We are excited to offer the following electives:
Sustainable Agriculture/Culinary – including food processing and preservation
Introduction to Manufacturing – focused on freshmen
Construction
Welding
Weight Lifting – Juniors and Seniors
Art
Music – guitar and piano
Elective selection preference will be given to Seniors first, followed by Juniors and so forth, until classes reach their set capacities in order to maintain positive learning environments.
A reminder regarding our closed-campus policy: Students should not leave campus during morning nutrition or at any time other than lunch without being signed out by a parent or guardian. Students will not be allowed to leave with a non-parent/guardian adult without express permission from their parent or guardian. This is not a new policy, but it will be more strictly enforced this school year.
Parents/Caregivers and community members are invited to join us for the morning assembly.
We will also be hosting lunch from 11:50 a.m. to 12:50 p.m. for students and their families. Please join us! This will be a great opportunity to meet the staff, reconnect with our school community, and start the new school year off in a positive way.
We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow and kicking off a great school year!
