"I viewed Tuck Bridge as a highly valued business complement to my liberal arts focus in undergrad. I wanted to gain core business skills that I had not yet been exposed to during my undergraduate studies and internships," says Chase Carpenter D'08, Bridge'08.

Carpenter, senior director of strategy & analytics at The Chicago Cubs, met his wife Jackie Bender, an Emmy Award-winning TV host, producer & journalist, at Tuck Bridge in the summer of 2008.

We sat down with the Carpenters to learn more about how they met, their biggest takeaways from their Tuck Bridge experience, and what they’ve been up to since their time in Hanover.

For the Carpenters, the Tuck Business Bridge Program was a transformative experience—both professionally and personally.

At Tuck, entrepreneurship touches nearly all students.

"I think that what you see in entrepreneurship at Tuck is a perfect complement to Tuck’s core strategy of being a world-class, boutique business school experience and education," says Daniella Reichstetter T’07, who teaches entrepreneurship in both the Bridge and MBA programs.

In response to evolving interests and needs, the Tuck Business Bridge Program has introduced a suite of new electives carefully chosen based on student feedback and trends in business.

The new electives include:

‣ Real Estate with Brian Melzer

‣ Hot Topics in Health Care with Katy Milligan D’90, T’07

‣ Business Law with Anne Corbin

‣ Entrepreneurship with Trip Davis D’90 and Daniella Reichstetter T’07

‣ Investments: From DCF to Market Valuations with Matt Considine

"Technical skills like accounting and finance are essential. Economics-based thinking is essential. And soft skills like communication and leadership are essential. Building a network as early as possible in one’s career is also essential and Bridge helps them do that," says Leslie Robinson, faculty director of Tuck Business Bridge.

Undergraduate students attending Tuck’s Business Bridge Program can now take courses on business law, entrepreneurship, real estate, investments, and health care.

Congratulations to Tuck Bridge's Brian Melzer, who was selected as a recipient of the annual Teaching Excellence Award by the class of 2023!

"The students are interested in being knowledgeable and well-rounded. That’s partly what draws us to teach: we’re curious and we like to learn, and so when you get that back from the students, it makes for a really fun environment," says Melzer, who teaches real estate in both the MBA and Bridge programs.

The Tuck professors were recognized for their teaching of Capital Markets (Joseph Gerakos) and Real Estate (Brian Melzer).

Are you interested in consulting? Our alumni panelists shared why they enjoy working in this field: it's never boring, you are constantly learning, it satisfies diversity of experiences and projects, there's financial stability, it expands your communication skills, is detail oriented, and allows for a broad exposure to different topics.
