Cedar School Welcomes Interim Principal
September 17, 2026
I am pleased to share that Stephanie Wells has been appointed Interim Principal of Cedar School for the remainder of the 2026-2027 school year. Ms. Wells will be starting next Monday, September 21.
Ms. Wells brings extensive experience in elementary education and school leadership to Cedar. Most recently, she served as Principal of Old Hammondtown Elementary School in Mattapoisett and previously held assistant principal positions in Rockland and Taunton. Her leadership experience includes supporting students and staff, strengthening school culture, overseeing curriculum and instruction, and building strong partnerships with families.
Ms. Wells also brings firsthand experience as an elementary classroom teacher. She began her career teaching first grade and later spent six years as a kindergarten teacher, giving her a strong understanding of the academic, social, and developmental needs of our Cedar School students and how to best support our teachers and staff.
We are excited to welcome Ms. Wells to Hanover and believe her combination of classroom experience, elementary leadership, and commitment to students and families will provide Cedar with strong and steady leadership for the remainder of the school year. I know our Cedar community will join me in welcoming Ms. Wells and helping her quickly become part of our school community.
I also want to take this opportunity to sincerely thank Mrs. Burns for all she has done for Cedar School and the children of Hanover. For more than two decades, she has devoted her care, compassion, expertise, creativity, and love to the students of Cedar and to the staff and families who make up this special school community.
During her time as principal, Mrs. Burns has been a passionate advocate for Cedar School, always working to move the school forward while supporting a joyful learning environment, strong academic programming, and a safe and supportive school community. Her leadership has contributed greatly to Cedarโs success and to the welcoming and inclusive culture that defines the school.
Please join me in thanking Mrs. Burns for her many years of dedicated service to the children and families of Hanover and in wishing her every success and happiness as she begins this next chapter in her career.
Sincerely,
Matt Ferron
Superintendent
