Does conversation actually change the way we think?

New research from Tuck Executive Education's Adam Kleinbaum and his social-neuroscientist coauthors uses functional magnetic resonance (fMRI) imaging to learn more about the process of reaching a consensus.

"The results [are] fascinating," says Kleinbaum. "First, we found that conversation served not only to align people’s narratives, but also to align the neural activity in their brains."

Kleinbaum teaches two sessions in the Advanced Management Program (AMP): Leaders as Networks Architects and A Framework for Change: DEI Within Your Organization.

Please join us in welcoming 35 motivated business leaders to campus for our summer Advanced Management Program!

Participants— including 20 VPs and C-suite executives—come to Hanover from across the US, Canada, Australia, Finland, Japan, the Philippines, South Korea, Uganda, and Vietnam; they represent industries as varied as construction, technology, education, sports, restaurants, and finance.

Over the next two weeks, they’ll work closely with Tuck faculty and fellow leaders to develop customized Management Action Plans—which take program concepts and apply them to a strategic organizational challenge each participant faces. They’ll return to their organizations equipped to address their most pressing management challenges.

For Scott Decker D'09, Th'11, degrees from Dartmouth and Thayer provided a powerful base of technical and liberal arts knowledge. But a decade into his career, he knew he needed additional tools for his transition to a leadership role.

This week we welcome 38 motivated leaders to campus for our spring Leadership and Strategic Impact Program (LSI)!

Participants join us from 16 different U.S. states, four countries, and companies including Google, the US Navy, State Farm, and the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee.

Throughout the next week, they will work closely with Tuck faculty to build an action plan that will help them accelerate their professional advancement. Sharpening strategic decision-making, managing team dynamics, and driving organizational growth are all central components of the program.

“The combination of superb professors, hands-on case studies, and an insightful and engaged peer group really helped me to refine my own leadership style, strategic thinking, and perspective,” Daryl Byrne, CEO at Euronext, says of his time in LSI.
