Recertification class this morning. First since my surgery, We will see if I am up to it again. :)

What is meant by "gun safety legislation"? If I heard correctly the Virginia shooter purchased the gun and ammo legally and had no known mental issues. I am very interested in what sort of "safety legislation" would prevent someone from shooting someone else. That would be a wonderful thing to have, but I don't see a possibility because there are already laws forbidding people from killing others. If that law did not prevent the shooting I don't see another law being effective. Obviously people get shot by people who ignore the law, so law is not the answer.

I will provide handgun safety training to small groups of persons and certify them to apply for an Illinois concealed carry permit. I will limit class size to six persons so you will get the attention and interaction needed to safely handle a gun. From time to time I will offer women only classes. I stand behind you in line at the store with a smile on my face...and a gun under my shirt and you are none the wiser, yet you are safer for having me next to you. I won't shoot you. My gun won't pull it's own trigger. It is securely holstered with the trigger covered. It can't just go off. However, rest assured that if a lunatic walks into the grocery store and pulls out a rifle, I will draw my pistol and protect myself and my family and therefore protect you and your family. I may get shot before I can pull the trigger...but, I won't die in a helpless blubbering heap on the floor begging for my life or my child's life. I won't be that victim. I choose not to be. As for you, I don't ask you to carry a gun. If you are not comfortable, then please don't. But I would like to keep my right to choose to not be a helpless victim.
