She'll showcase excerpts from two of her latest works This World Made Itself and Infinitely Yours, dreamlike meditations on the history of the earth and the climate catastrophe.

Congratulations to Dartmouth Energy Alliance leader Caroline Goggins and other Dartmouth Engineering students win at Solar District Cup with their engineering design capstone project!

Congratulations to BE students John Greene '20, Caroline Goggins ’20, Evangelia Stoikou, and Henry Talma Stheeman '20 for their first place finish at the US Dept of ’s Solar District Cup, an energy systems design competition. Their winning submission was part of their two-term capstone design course sequence at Thayer (ENGS 89/90).

Along with their faculty advisor, Dean Alexis Abramson, the team won in the Crystal Parks district in Arlington, Virginia, for a complete solar photovoltaic system design, including a distribution impact analysis, financial analysis, and development plan.

Approximately 65 teams entered the competition, but only 35 were invited to virtually present and submit their final solution to a panel of judges late last month.

The Solar District Cup challenges student teams to design and model optimized distributed energy systems for campus or urban districts. The competition engages students across the engineering, urban planning, and finance disciplines to reimagine how energy is generated, managed, and used. Student teams were randomly assigned one of three districts.

We are grateful to have partnered with the Hop as part of their series last night, which featured a live chat with William Kamkwamba '14, as well as Dartmouth faculty and students, about the film "The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind." The event invited participants to screen the film, which tells the story of William, at age 13, building a windmill to help his village in Malawi, and then discuss. Institute Research Director Stephen Doig will serve on the energy advisory group. The group will work with Dartmouth Sustainability Director Rosi Kerr's office to provide recommendations to College leadership as Dartmouth develops a plan to create a more sustainable energy system.

The two new groups will advise Dartmouth's Office of Sustainability.
