Our Chang Brothers Black Belt Cadets wrapped up an incredibly demanding summer schedule by competing at the AAU National Championships in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, followed by a quick turnaround for weigh-ins and competition at the USA Taekwondo National Championships in Charlotte, North Carolina.

This was our first year taking on both national events, and it marked an important step forward as our athletes continue to develop in the highly competitive World Class black belt divisions. While we didn't bring home any medals this time, we had several athletes reach the quarterfinals and put together outstanding performances against some of the best competitors in the country. Those experiences and close matches are exactly what will help prepare us for future success.

Our younger athletes also had a fantastic showing at the USA Taekwondo National Championships. Competing as red belts, Minji Kang earned a Bronze Medal, while Karim Batres captured a Gold Medal. With our team preparing to move into the black belt ranks next season, these performances are an exciting glimpse of what's ahead.

Nationals are about growth. Learning to perform under pressure, building confidence, and developing ring composure against elite competition are all critical steps in an athlete's journey.

With more than 3,000 competitors at both AAU and USA Taekwondo Nationals, our athletes gained invaluable experience that will continue to build the foundation for the future.

We're proud of every athlete who stepped on the mat. The work continues, and we're excited for what lies ahead. 🥋💪

CBTA Team is in Minnesota this weekend for the Peak Performance Camp!

Our athletes had the opportunity to learn from Olympic coaches Juan Moreno and Diego Ribeiro while training alongside some of the top athletes in the country, including National Team members and Olympic-level competitors.

Great experience, great training, and great memories as we continue preparing for Nationals.

CBTA Team completes its first Nationals event of the year at ATU Nationals in Georgia.

Our young team returned home with:
🥇 3 National Champions
🥈 3 Silver Medalists
🥉 6 Bronze Medalists

Congratulations to all of our athletes for their hard work, composure, and continued growth on the national stage.

Special congratulations to Kyara Cervantes for winning her division and earning a strong finish during the ATU Team Trials.

Overall, this was a great learning experience and an important step forward as we continue preparing for AAU and USA Taekwondo Nationals this July.

Great cross-training session yesterday with Master Chan Park and Ohio United (O.U.T.).

It’s always a positive experience bringing schools together to train, learn, and push each other forward. It's awesome to see our athletes grow through shared energy, different perspectives, and strong leadership.

Respect to Master Chan Park for stepping up as a 2nd-generation leader and continuing to build for the future of Taekwondo.

Great Job Team CBTA at the Michigan AAU State Championship!

Our Chang Brothers Taekwondo Academy competitors had an excellent weekend competing at the AAU Michigan State Championship, the largest AAU state in the country, with athletes even traveling from Canada to compete.

More importantly than medals, our athletes gained valuable ring experience, multiple matches, and strong competition in full brackets.

The team finished the day with an outstanding performance:
🏅 6 Gold Medals
🥈 3 Silver Medals
🥉 1 Bronze Medal

We are proud of the effort, discipline, and sportsmanship our athletes showed throughout the event. Competing at high level tournaments like this is an important step in building experience and confidence for future competitions.

Thank you to the parents and families who supported the team this weekend, and congratulations to all of our athletes for representing CBTA and Illinois Taekwondo with pride.

Our team athletes gained valuable experience competing on the Daedo PSS system at both the Sub-Zero Tournament and the All-American Challenge over the past couple of weeks. Great reps, great lessons, and continued growth.
