HMS Building Trades class visited State Tech today in Linn, Mo. Students learned about the many career training options available there. The time around the dozers was a favorite activity. Special thanks to Nikki Zerendow of State Tech and the staff there for allowing us to visit! We have several students that now want to attend State Tech!

HMS Building Trades Class visited the Plumbers and Pipefitters Training Center Local 562 in Earth City today. Students learned about careers in plumbing and pipefitting. Special thanks to Kevin O'Mara, Paul Gallagher, and Stephen Garner for the tour and presentation.

HMS Building Trades Class visited Hannibal Machine. Students toured the shop, learned about the operations done , and viewed some of the projects produced there, and learned about careers. Special thanks to Scott Haycraft for allowing us to visit.

Thank you to Tony Slater and Katie Carlin. Tony shared with students about his careers with the Marion and Ralls County Ambulance Service. Students learned about training requirements and the ups and downs of this essential program. Katie Carlin shared about her career as an attorney. She is the assistant prosecuting attorney for Marion County. Mrs. Carlin shared her experiences as an attorney, but she also gave information to students so they would have a good idea of what they should do now to prepare for a career as an attorney. Thank you to both for your time today!

HMS Building Trades Class toured Altorfer CAT of Hannibal. Students learned about the history of Altorfer and its day to day operations . The staff was asked what advice they would tell themselves if they could go to their 8th grade days and we heard lots of practical advice. The best advice was never to let anything come between you and your dream.

HMS Building Trades Class visited Northeast Missouri Electric Power Cooperative today. Students learned about the cooperative, electrical safety, toured the building, met many of the staff there, viewed a drone operating, and enjoyed presentations on careers from the staff there. Special thanks to Allie Bennet and all of the staff for having us there today!

Thank you to Dylan Smith at WGEM for taking the time to share with Hannibal Middle School students about his career as a journalist with WGEM. We may have a few future journalists and sportscasters among us now!

HMS Building Trades Class toured the Mid-America Carpenters Apprentice Training Center in St. Louis. We visited five different shops in the center and learned about careers in each field .

Travis Straube from Bleigh Ready Mix visited Hannibal Middle School today to share information about careers at Bleigh Ready Mix in Hannibal. Students learned how concrete is made and about the various offered and the skills requirements for the career paths. Thanks for the pencils and stickers, too!
