Yesterday, our law enforcement family suffered a heartbreaking loss here in Tulare County. Deputy Randy Hoppert, a proud graduate of Tulare-Kings Police Academy Class 145, was killed in the line of duty in what can only be described as a senseless tragedy. Randy answered the call to serve with courage, commitment, and a deep sense of responsibility to his community, values that defined him both in the Academy and throughout his service.
His loss is felt profoundly by his family, his agency, and all of us who had the honor of knowing him and being part of his journey. He stood among those willing to step forward when others could not, and for that, we are forever grateful.
We ask our community to keep Deputy Hoppert’s family, friends, and fellow deputies in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.
We will never forget his sacrifice.

The best class yet. 100% passing range - combat day, & night, physical fitness and final exam the first time. That’s an academy all time record. Proud of them and our team of instructors. We have the best academy around and the 6th class in a row of 50+ graduates. We are the academy to train at. Cos.edu/policeacademy.

🎄💚 When even he can’t resist a great opportunity… you know something big is coming. The Grinch may try to steal Christmas – but not even he can swipe the excitement building for our next Police Academy class. As he peers into that snow globe, he sees exactly what we see: A new generation of future peace officers preparing to answer the call.
