Phi Kappa Tau Michigan Tech Gamma Alpha Chapter Nationally and University recognized fraternal organization. Phi Kappa Tau is our national organization, Mu Kappa Mu is our local chapter.

The Phi Kappa Tau fraternity is a national men's social fraternity. It was established in 1906 at the University of Miami Ohio and has over 85,000 members over the 106 year history. Phi Kappa Tau has had a rich history with Michigan Technological University and its hometown of Hancock, MI. Originally founded as the Mu Kappa Mu fraternity on April 24, 1957 by 12 young men attending Michigan Tech, t

he organization stood for brotherhood, acceptance, and integrity. Now, for over 55 years, the Gamma Alpha Chapter of Phi Kappa Tau is an outstanding member of the Michigan Technological University and Houghton/Hancock communities. Members are involved in various local philanthropy functions including Wood Cutting for Little Brothers and Friends of the Elderly, Pancake Breakfast for Hancock Elementary, and other campus events. Phi Kappa Tau is also heavily involved with the world famous Winter Carnival, Homecoming, and Greek Week.
