Three Barkell Robotics teams competed in the VEX IQ Michigan State Robotics Championship in Monroe, Mi on March 5-6. All three teams did a great job representing Bulldog spirit, grit, and integrity. The teams all scored personal bests in their Driving Skills portion of the competition!

Addi, James, Matthew, and Walter won the Judges Award for the outstanding interview, tenacity, and enthusiasm. Way to represent our Hancock family!

Bryant, CJ, Grayson, and Macklyn showed great teamwork and game strategy. They arranged to meet up and practice with all the teams on their alliance match schedule. This led to better alliance scoring for their matches and the highest seed placement going into finals of any Bulldogs Robotics team to date! They averaged over 115 points per match!

Anton, Gavin, and Isaac were the youngest team at the State Tournament and impressed the oldest teams with their ability to build a durable robot. They were cheered on by alliance team families and are excited to have many more years of robotics to come!

Our Kinders and Young Fives officially hit the 100-day mark recently! To celebrate, they took to the halls for a festive parade, complete with canes, curlers, and plenty of "Glamma" energy from our amazing teachers.
100 days smarter, 95 years "older," and 100% adorable. Way to go, Bulldogs! 🐾

Family STEM Night and Invention Convention 2026 were last week at Barkell Elementary. STEM night, hosted by Michigan Tech, was an invitation for families to “play” engineer and were tasked with designing a project while being introduced to challenges along the way to simulate the process of real world engineering projects and project management.
Invention Convention is the culmination of a few weeks of students exploring the process of product invention. The students were tasked with identifying a “problem” in the world around them and developing a concept for a product to solve this problem.
