The Varsity Hockey team is hosting a can drive fundraiser! This is a great opportunity to support our student-athletes.

📅 Cans will be collected THIS Saturday, September 5th from 10am -1pm at the HoCo Arena (1500 Birch Street, Hancock), so be sure to bring your returnables and help them out!

Every can and bottle you donate helps provide opportunities for our students—whether it's new equipment, travel expenses, team activities, or club projects.

Perched on Hancock’s Portage Canal, Small Craft is a place to gather, unwind, and enjoy the view. With cocktails, mocktails, eight rotating taps and a lineup of beer, cider, wine, seltzer, and kombucha, there’s something for everyone. More than a bar, Small Craft is a place for connection, conversation, and community.

Tucked away in Downtown Hancock, Michigan, our family-owned and operated restaurant is a local favorite devoted to a simple menu, kind service, and classic Italian comfort food. Gino’s Restaurant & Cocktail Lounge has been a community staple dating back to 1923. It would be hard to find someone in the Keweenaw Peninsula who didn’t have a story to share about the spot.

Bulldog Bootcamp is an event for our young Bulldogs. It will be held on Monday, August 31st, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Bootcamp is filled with fun, engaging activities that introduce students to their school, teacher, classroom, and riding on a school bus. Since students will be expected to independently enter classrooms without their parents when school begins, we would like to practice that for Bootcamp. After parents sign their child in and say goodbye, teachers will walk students to their classrooms. We understand it may be difficult for some students to separate from their parents. Extra staff will be available to assist your child with this transition and help them feel comfortable.

Parents are encouraged to return to Barkell at 11:15 a.m. for a presentation about your child's grade level and to answer any questions. After the presentation, there will be the opportunity for children to take a short bus ride. Parents are more than welcome to come along for the ride. Bootcamp will be an exciting event! We hope that you and your child can join us!🙂

📵 Michigan Law. School Expectations. Same Commitment to Student Success. 🐾

Beginning with the 2026–2027 school year, Michigan law requires all public and charter schools to adopt policies restricting student cell phone and wireless communication device use during class instructional time.

As many of you know, Hancock High School began implementing this practice during the last school year (Middle School has always had this policy) to help prepare our students and staff for the statewide requirement. By introducing these expectations early, we were able to create smoother classroom routines and reinforce the importance of staying focused on learning.

📚 What this means for our Bulldogs:
✔️ Cell phones and other personal wireless communication devices must be put away during instructional time.
✔️ School-issued technology, such as district laptops and tablets, may still be used for learning.
✔️ Teachers may approve limited device use when it directly supports a lesson or classroom activity.

This new law is designed to reduce distractions, improve student engagement, and help every Bulldog stay focused on learning.

We’re looking for a few dependable Bulldogs to help out at our home JV/Varsity volleyball matches this season. These are paid positions and a great way to support Hancock Athletics!

🏐 September 19 — Home JV/Freshman Tournament

Possible District game(s): November 2–6

🎟️ ADMISSION GATE
• 1 person, 7th grade & up
• 4:30 p.m. through the first Varsity set
• $25 per date / $200 for the season
• Sept. 19 paid hourly
• Additional pay for Districts
