Fostering welcoming school communities across Baraga, Houghton, and Keweenaw counties is a core focus of the Copper Country ISD Special Education Millage initiative.

Inclusion enriches the educational and social experience for everyone, ensuring students with special needs learn, play, and grow alongside their peers in their hometown schools. These opportunities allow students of all abilities to build meaningful friendships, develop teamwork, and celebrate athletic and academic achievements together. Special education funding directly supports shared regional activities like Unified Basketball games, peer partner learning programs, and outdoor learning experiences at Camp Nesbit.

October is Infant Safe Sleep Month in Michigan calling attention to how babies can sleep the safest. To keep babies 0-12 months of age safe while sleeping at night and during naps, we'll be sharing guidelines to help keep our youngest safe while at rest.

Follow safe sleep practices by placing baby to sleep on their back. Back to sleep for EVERY sleep.

The Copper Country ISD Career & Technical Education (CTE) Business & Entrepreneurship students recently visited Superior National Bank and met with Chris Gariepy from the wealth management team.

Students learned how to begin building financial capital to support future business ventures and explored the power of starting early when it comes to saving and investing for retirement. This was a great opportunity to connect classroom concepts with real-world financial strategies!

Thank you to everyone from across the state from the Special Education Instructional Leadership Network (SEILN) that visited the Copper Country ISD for the last two days. We hope everyone had a wonderful experience in the Copper Country. (It might not get any better than peak fall season. 🍁)

In addition to two full days of learning, the team toured the future site of the Community Transition Program House. The house is being built by the Copper Country ISD Career and Technical Education Construction Technology students in assistance with community construction partners.
