I have been working with Perplexity AI, a tool created for deeper, more complex research, to create an interactive map of each year, beginning this year, 2026, with an emphasis on Indigenous astronomical lore. The focus is on local lore available from the local descendents of the Powhatan Confederacy and other contiguous tribes.

Meticulously researched, and with an extensive bibliography, visitors are invited to ask questions, and tribal members should feel free to request additions or changes. Please enjoy this tool, there are several changes and additions I wish to make myself, and I want to always do so while respecting the traditions of SE Virginia’s local tribes. My main goal however is to help the people of tidewater Virginia to understand not just the concept of the constellations with Greek names and stories, but to learn that peoples all over the world developed stories and lore and to understand what the indigenous peoples where we live believed when they looked at the night sky.
