For those who have seen me lugging this board around for the past year, I was able to get the last few missing ballplayers to sign it, and it's complete. For everyone that took the time to sign it for me from the coaching staff to the players, thank you so much. As a tangible piece of Hampton history, being from the old flooded gym floor, and having the State Championship team all sign it, I'll treasure it.

The Bulldogs saw their season some to an end tonight in the State Quarterfinals, falling to the Jackson County Blue Devils, 53-41. The game started with promise, with the Dogs holding a slim 14-13 lead after one. In the second, Hampton led most of the quarter, but a late run gave the Devils a seven point lead at the half, 31-24. In the third, the Dogs battled back to within five, 39-34 going into the fourth. In the final quarter, the Dogs would get as close as three but could not get shots to drop while Jackson County pulled away late. With the loss, the Dogs saw their season end with a final record of 25-10. While the ending may sting, the Bulldogs had a fine season, winning 25 games, A conference championship, A Region championship, a sub-state home win, and a return to the State Tournament. Most importantly, the Dogs were finally able to return to VanHuss-White Gym after nearly two years. A big thanks to the team's seniors, who kept at it through extraordinary circumstances the past two years. To the underclassmen, next season will give a chance to show what they can do. Go Dogs!!!

Overcoming a stout Oneida team and an off shooting night, the Dogs are heading back to Murfreesboro after an intense 54-49 win! The game started slowly as neither team could get shots to drop, but the Indians managed one more to drop and held a slim 6-4 lead after one. In the second, another slow start from Hampton enabled Oneida to pull out to a team point 16-6 lead. The Dogs would recover, and cut the deficit to one at the half, 20-19. In the third, the Dogs had their best showing, nearly doubling their point total to lead 37-29 going into the final period. In the fourth, Oneida got back into it, tying the game at 42. However, the Dogs made big plays on inbounds plays to catch the Indians off guard, and keep the lead as the Dogs got another inbound shot to go in at the buzzer to send the VanHuss-White Gym crowd into a frenzy and secure a berth in the State Tournament next week in Murfreesboro. With the win, the Dogs improved their record to 25-9 and nailed down their 26th win in a row at home. Now to wait and see who and when they play in the State. Go Dogs!!

Warrior Hill was the scene for an overflow crowd as the Hampton Bulldogs held off the Unaka Rangers in an electric, tension filled Region final by a score of 56-52. The Bulldogs started strong, running out to a 16-8 lead after one. The Rangers got back into the game quickly in the second, but Hampton finished with a strong flurry, leading 31-20 at the half. Unaka came out with a strong push in the third, as Hampton saw their double digit lead whittled to two, 42-40, going into the fourth quarter. In the final period, the Rangers would move into the lead for the first time, but could not deliver the knockout punch. As the game wound down, the intense style of play began to take a toll, as foul trouble began to rear up on the Rangers, as two starters fouled out, including their big man inside. Without him the Dogs began to work more freely, getting inside possessions they couldn't before. Eventually the Dogs sealed the deal at the foul line, claiming their first Region title since 2020. With the win, the Dogs improve to 24-9 on the season and now prepare to welcome the Oneida Indians to VanHuss-White Gym Monday night for the sub-state game. Go Dogs!!!!

The Bulldogs traveled to Washburn Tuesday evening to take on the District 2 Champions Hancock County Indians and came away with a big 73-55 win. The first quarter was intense and physical, as the teams sized each other up, with Hampton holding a 13-9 lead at the end of the quarter. In the second, the Bulldog defense began taking effect, creating turnovers and fast break points, as the Dogs pulled out to a ten point lead, 34-24, at the half. In the third, the Dogs really took command, outscoring the Indians 27-15 to hold a commanding 61-39 lead going into the final period. In the fourth, Hancock would try to rally, but the Dogs made enough plays to keep the Indians at bay and go on to the 73-55 win. With the win, Hampton improves to 23-9 on the season, and assures themselves of at least two more games, the Region Championship game Thursday and the Sectional game (Sub-State) Monday. As both teams in the Region final are District 1 teams, the Championship game will held at Happy Valley at 7pm where the Dogs will take on the Unaka Rangers for the fourth time this season, with the winner getting a home sub-state game Monday. Go Dogs!!
