Last week was the opening of our temporary virtual center... WE SURVIVED! It was a challenge with children K-5th grade and 7 elementary schools represented. Our staff? Honestly, every one of them is the definition of Rock Star. They had to figure out different counties, schools, teachers, schedules, IEP meetings, changing schedules continuously, stressed out parents and kids, and who knows what else!
If you see ANY of them, tell them THANK YOU!
On Monday we open preschool. Be patient with the staff... again, they will be juggling a hundred balls and will do it with grace and humor (the humor is usually me) THANK those teachers too! They all have put in grueling hours to make this happen!
From me to all our STAFF!! THANK YOU! You put up with us and our hair-brained ideas and every one of you has stepped to the plate to help make this year happen! YOU ARE THE SHINING STARS!
Congratulations to Aylla Ross and Doug Farley on the birth of their daughter, Zoey Korr Farley! 7 lbs 12 oz! They are exhausted but oh so happy!
We can’t wait to meet her!
Enjoy your time off Miss Aylla!
[08/27/20] Little Feet is proud to announce that we have received our license to run a temporary virtual school age center at St John’s UMC in Hampstead. We officially open on September 8 and look forward to this new challenge and responsibility to help our school agers continue to learn🎉
Falls Road Dance. We worked out kinks this summer and feel pretty comfortable offering in-person classes in small groups this fall. Revamping “dance classes” to include mini virtual Halloween and Christmas shows so we can be together in larger groups while not being together. Come dance outside the box (but inside the box!)
Welcome to Little Feet St John’s School Age Virtual Learning Center!
Taken by Miss Minda this afternoon... if this isn’t a sign, not sure what is!
Three Weeks ago, we decided that we had to help. So... for what felt like 24 hours a day we have filed paperwork, met with inspectors, moved staff around, moved furniture and on Tuesday we will have our final inspection on a temporary School Age, virtural learning spot. We have coupled with other centers in the area, and with St. Johns UMC which is part of the NCCP Cooperative Parishes to make this happen. This is temporary and is stretching Miss Pat and I thin, but we know it is the right thing to do because we had over 30 children on our list within 5 days.
We are still opening our Preschool on time with things as normal as possible and continue with all day childcare daily.
Our success is rooted firmly in our dedicated staff and families who have gone above and beyond in their support of Little Feet in the last 5 months. We still have a long path ahead, but we literally could not have done this without everyone's help.
To every staff person who has worked throughout this pandemic or who unselfishly furloughed, we can not thank you enough. YOU make us what we are!
To every family who has encouraged us with kind words, food, supplies.... we can never thank you enough. We never ran out of the bare necessities because families saw what we needed and just picked it up and dropped it off, or cleaned out their children's toys and donated to LF.
We are literally in awe of everything YOU have done for us; teachers and families; so now we will give back and help out our community as well.
WE LOVE YOU ALL!
Joanne, Pat and Randy (Mr. Joanne)
[07/10/20] Friday, July 10 - Little Feet is in the beginning stages of investigating how we could help all families of elementary students who may/may not be returning to school in the fall on a regular Monday thru Friday schedule. We are not working on this alone, but are joining with a group of other centers in the greater Hampstead area to see if forming a non-profit dedicated just to helping ALL families in need might be obtainable. If you would like to receive the survey, drop us an email and we will make sure it gets to you. YOUR opinions matter!
Class of 2020! You did it! It was different but we said goodbye to our graduates!

I know some of our families are not aware of the battle we are fighting to survive and we have spent countless hours talking to and sharing with our local state legislators. Today they sent this letter to Dr. Salmon, the head of Maryland State Department of Education. While I doubt it will change anything, we finally feel like we have someone on our side and fighting alongside all childcare. Please remember who supports children when you vote.
We can not hold on forever without the help from our families.
Friday, May 15. At 6:45 pm this evening, MSDE sent emails to childcare centers allowing us to care for children of non-essential personnel as well as children of essential personnel. We are very limited on space at both centers as we are still, to our knowledge, operating under reduced capacities. If you need care for Monday morning, we are asking you to text 410-302-3535. Someone will get back to you as soon as possible to assure we have a slot for your child. These families will pay directly to their childcare center.
Children of essential personnel are still having tuition paid by the state of Maryland.
I apologize for this late notice. We were lucky to have even seen the email from MSDE.

Every parent needs to understand that legal, licensed care and preschools are in turmoil. Face it: many cannot work without care and preschools have thru the years done and amazing job preparing children for kindergarten (usually in under 3 hours a day)
The lack of true understanding and respect for these businesses is driving many to just quit or “go underground” as unlicensed facilities.
Who loses? Really... it is children... entire generations of children.
We are now facing mandatory Prek in public schools followed soon thereafter by threes programs IN public schools. In effect, those that survive COVID will cease to exist in five years anyway.
We can no longer face this battle alone. If your children benefited from licensed care or preschool, NOW is the time to stand up. Write to or call your legislators; have conversations; do whatever is your thing but DO NOT REMAIN SILENT. We have too much to lose
