Had to force feed this Emerald Tree Boa for almost a full year when we got him. For anyone who doesn't know what that mean its essentially wrestling down the snake and shoving a frozen thawed rodent down his throat and its not fun. The first prey I offered him was a frozen thawed mouse which he showed zero interest in despite appearing hungry and perched in a striking position. After that I talked to some people in the Oaks Reptile Expo and I did some research on my own leading me to try numerous different things. Heres the full list of everything I tried: Feeding a live mouse, feeding a live chick, giving him a bacterial medication made for fish, and all kinds of tampering with humidity and temperatures. Funny enough in all my thinking, discussing, and research the most obvious solution never came to mind. The thing that I should've tried from the very beginning was feeding a rat instead of a mouse. Thinking about it now t's extremely obvious I should've tried that but at the time I've never dealt with a snake that wouldn't eat and in my head a mouse and a rat didn't seem all that different. Looking back I was and probably still am not experienced enough to be dealing with an ETB but hey live and learn I suppose.
