We're happy to introduce Rebecca Hocking as the new Principal of Hammond Central School!
Rebecca comes to Hammond CSD from her most recent position serving as Principal of Hermon-DeKalb Central School and brings 19 years of experience in education to the position. She has served a variety of roles in those 19 years, starting as paraprofessional before becoming a teacher and, ultimately, a school leader.
Throughout the interview process, Rebecca's student-centered approach, thoughtful leadership style, and strong belief in the importance of relationships within a school community stood out as being the right choice for our district. She feels, like we do, that schools are at their best when strong support for students and staff, and connections to the community are at the forefront of everything we do.
Rebecca is also a proud Army veteran, having served four years following high school. She and her husband, Nathan, have been married for 25 years and have two daughters, Kayla and Katelynn. When she's not in school, Rebecca enjoys traveling, reading, all kinds of outdoor activities, and spending time with her animals (especially her very spoiled Goldendoodle, Oakley).
You'll be able to learn a little bit more about Rebecca in her "20 Questions" video, but for now we are excited to have her as part of the Red Devil family.
Please join us in giving Mrs. Hocking a warm Hammond welcome as we prepare for the 2026-27 school year!
